Have you ever noticed how what you set out to do, isn't what you ended up doing.
Yes ? Well, me too ! Often... Like on this day, in Bedford.
I had stopped to take a picture of this church,
but got distracted by this statue,
and then as I was about to click the shutter, this character walked into shot.
I would not in the normal course of events take a picture such as this, far less post it, but something about the serendipity of the moment, and the curious juxtaposition of the lauded on his pedestal and the unsung at his feet, seemed worth recording.
So I can add no more really, just make of it what you will..
Oh, and enjoy the music

I`m not sure what Bunyon would have made of this character, not the happiest of chaps!
I like the overall tone of the shot which suits the subject very well.
The composition is fine in a quirky shot that has a deal of interest.Nice one.
Best regards Les.

What a fabulous photograph! And one which can be very humorous or very poignant whichever way you look at it.
The interesting, sober and religious tones of the background memorial to the writer and preacher, John Bunyan, contrasts well with the rather dishevelled appearance of the cigarette smoking specimen who has just wandered into the foreground, head hung low and fists thrust into his cardigan pockets, almost in defiance of the background as well as the photographer.
A fabulous capture with exquisite detail and sharpness, perfect exposure and fine natural colours.
