Photographer’s Note
Tourists doing what they can to avoid the entrance fee of this famous landmark.
People comment on how amazing this place is, but that was all kind of lost on me with the ugly fencing and busy road running right past it.

Hi Brendan,
The B&W format compliments your negative POV of the place ... well portrayed. Somehow you've shown us a different perspective of the place ... not often showed to the tourist. Excellent composition... tfs.
Cheers,

Hi Brendan!
Hehe, your note is well illustrated by the photo (I actually share your POV on this site...) It was clever to keep the fence in the foreground, it fills the frame in, and shows what it is really like there!
Nicely done!

I saw it yesterday but no inspiration for words to put under it... On the technical part, nthing to said, good composition and neat result. The b&w is beautiful.
Maybe it is a good way to show this well-knowed place...
I can't put a finger on what disturb me here... anyway, better than some photos which reached more than 80 points ; ))

ooff, definitely a different Stonehenge shot. I think it shows well what you're trying to explain in the note. The fence passing right in the middle of the rocks, the path going around them, the couple trying to take a picture without paying the fee(the guy is soooo tall!!). With this picture, all of a sudden, I don't feel like going there:D I like how you let so much space for the sky, maybe it's the best feature of this place after all!
Take care,
Marc

Beautiful bw with great vignetting, Brendan. I haven't been to Stonehenge yet but a friend of mine who has has told me more or less the same what you describe in your note. However, I like the dimensions you focus on here, the actual dolmens look monumental with these tiny people in the front. Looks pretty empty, you must have gone there at the perfect time. I have to say these stones still strike me... but that fence is a sad evidence of the state of our "civilization".
take care,
sasa

Hi Brendan
Good comp and very sharp. Nice almost minialistic image. Great job going with the b&w, it has rich tones. Some backpackers trying to save some money hey? Anyhow well done.

You know Brendan, this is a very bizarre photograph that I've noticed since the first day you posted, and I've waited till today to write a comment on it. This seems to me as a surreal scene. The man is huge. When I say huge, I mean taller than M. Jordan, taller than T. Parker, taller than Magic Jonhson. This man must be the tallest man in the whole world. And this is the story of a dream, because he came across the small little lady called Ant and he loved her forever, and there's an historical visual register near Stonehenge to prove it. This image is a favorite for me. Hey...perhaps I wish I was that tall.

Brendan,
I like this compo.
The landmark is nicely emphasized, and your BW work is great, with pleasant contrasts.
Very nice job,
Regards,
JB.

Hi Brendan - it's a good shot, the techincal side of it is great, good BW, nice contrast between the darker ground & lighter sky (usual compliments!) but what I like the most is your take on the place & how you've interpreted it here.
The fence is ugly & ruins the view, and you've expressed this idea (not to mention your own sense of feeling disappointed by the place) very well in this presentation.
It's be easy enough to play it safe & go for a 'classic' view of Stonehenge, but I'm glad you didn't. And for me it does evoke memories of 'Spinal Tap' ;)

I missed this one before. That's a great documentary shot. The way you've captured it here, it really does look like a pile of old stones and rubble. Whatever soul it once had has been bled from it.
