Photographer’s Note
This is the 7th shot in a short series on Salisbury Cathedral.
Please see my previous posts for more information and images.
This shot is an example of the detail of the carvings on the choirs's wooden seating.
The following is taken from the link below.
'In the 1190s the bishop, dean and chapter of canons of Salisbury Cathedral embarked upon a visionary enterprise. At that time the cathedral was situated within the crowded precincts of the king's castle now known as Old Sarum. The clergy resolved to move to a new site where they would build a magnificent cathedral set on spacious grounds with large tracts of land for the houses of the canons and dean and for the bishop's palace, a town laid out on a grid of streets around a large market square with a unique hydraulic system that would provide the townspeople with fresh water diverted from the river and parish churches to serve a growing poulation. Many years passed before the plan could be implemented. Then on April 28, 1220, in solemn ceremony, stones were laid for the foundations of the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary. By the day of consecration, September 20, 1258, the cathedral and the town were flourishing. The dream had become reality'.
I found the following site which contains a vast amount of information and a virtual tour of the Cathedral.

Maybe the image I like the best so far (apart from your posting 'numero due').
Fine presentation and example of wood carving - an illustration that should accompany a brochure or book on this particular church.
Again, a well chosen POV that creates classical triangular composition seen in many masterpieces!

PS. If I may notice, something's been repeating, day in day out...?

You were caught here with a need for light and a depth of field that is simply too narrow for the subject. The colors are wonderful and you frame this image very well, but, in my opinion, you need greater depth to do justice to the features of the statue. If you must compromise on this matter, I believe it would have been better to have the angel's face in sharper focus while the rest of his body would be blurred. Here the sharpest focus is reserved for the drapery. I love the composition, however and the richness of the colors is remarkable. Your camera handled the ISO at 800 remarkably well. Wonderful series Stephen.
