Photographer’s Note
A now redundant gate leads into this overgrown allotment at the side of the canal in Bingley. I have passed this many times, but the white paint has never seemed as much part of the scenery as it did on this snowy morning.

hello Maggie,
this is a snow scene with a sense of place. The neglected allotment no doubt looks beter with snow than without. What a pity it is unkempt. But the old white gate does add something extra to the scene.

Hello Maggie,
The gate, even though it is white against the snow, is very strong by its position, detail and angle. Dare I say, it almost takes on a character!
I like how it contrasts with the other elements of the fence.
I would have been very tempted to crop frm the top of the post as it applies more attention to the gate and, for me, helps the composition.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Geia sou Maggie!
Beautiful photo, although, somehow melancholic! The feeling of abandonment, fits very well this winter landscape, great framing and composition, flawless light managment! Congratulations!

Hallo, Maggie -
Seeing this slice by slice with dial-up connection (broadband fault since last Tuesday) was fascinating. And the whole picture was worth waiting for. Really 3-dimensional and reminiscent of many walks in snowy countryside. The way the fence posts and the trees slope in opposite directions gives it great vivacity. I'd be inclined to shave just a wee bit off the top - but that's a very minor thought. It's all lovely.
I hope you are not too disappointed to see the end of the snow - I'm just glad to be warm when I go out again!
Best wishes,
Winifred

Hello Maggie, a very interesting study of the derelict allotment.I like the tilted gate and the haphazard vegetation;I think some pruning is called for!
Personally, I like the shot just the way that you have composed it.I guess that the snow has enhanced the beauty of the place[?]
Tfs, regards Jean.
