Hardcastle Craggs is a very well kept secret from many people. It is one of those places that you love, and feel you have loved ever since you were a child.
The Crags themselves are lovely, but the walk to find them, either along the bank of the stream, or through the leafy green woods, is quite enchanting. This is the view in the woods. The old stone path leads between the trees, over knolls and alongside the bubbling stream.
The journey is filled with the noise of the running water, the excited chattering of the birds or the reassuring cruch of your boots as they crush small twigs or scrape on the huge stones.
This really is one of my very favourite places.
It is on the outskirts of Hebden Bridge and you really should make the effort to visit it. But ... ssshh! It is a secret place!
Many thanks for dropping by.
Plase feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph.
Hand held with my portable casio.

It seems I'm in the woods for a walk. I feel inside the photo. It means it's well done.

You bring the beauty closer, and the concept in frame smiles along the lovely title you paste on it.
Pleasing nature, a lovely vision.
The composition with the rock paths in diagonal is attractive..
Excellent to include the characters, as it feels a story line..

it must be a beautiful place indeed and now I have to find it and visit this beauty, but don't worry because I'll be very discreet ;o)
All that green is something I really like and really need to espace just for a few moments from the chaotic Manchester.
Thanks for sharing with us this secret and regards,

most of all I am fascinating by the wonderful light you have captured! And I also like the fresh green of the plants. It is a pity that we can't hear the birds!
Thank you for sharing this idyllic place!

Counting down in single numbers........! As you seem to have a talent for poetic prose, maybe you should settle down and write a book after your retirement. :D
I am very impressed with the way your compact handles the extreme contrast ever present in woodland scenes. Here the balance between light and shade is exemplary. Your low POV for the inclusion of the rock path was very well chosen, as was placing it diagonally from the bottom left corner. The other two walkers at the top are perfect in the composition. Very good shot

I am impressed by the lighting conditions allowing an even and balance view of woods. Reading your Note made me wonder and wish that I were walking this secret location. Good work. Danilo

nice shot, a secret place where to look for quiet and wealth, very well captured on a beautiful light despite the thick vegetation.

Hello Bev, I have visited this lovely place many times over the years and it remains very much the same, I am pleased to say! I like your simple diagonal compo which leads us up the rocky trail, and the use of the grass for foreground colour and texture. The figures add some scale but are not vital to the interest of this scene.
A few years ago there were sculpture trails set up here ( of a temporary nature) which were very enjoyable. Do you know if they still take place?

Bev, thanks for posting this as it's one of the places that's been on my list to visit for ages, but which I haven't managed yet. Definitely going to now after seeing this lovely shot and reading your inspiring notes.
Thanks for sharing!

You have captured this secret place in wonderful soft afternoon light thar brings soothing shadows through this lovely lush green landscape.
The giant rocks are wonderfully placed as they lead the eye into the deep secret forest.

It is sometimes hard for me to communicate these peaceful intimate forest places .. they lack the immediate "entertainment power" of the majestic landscape .. but you have done it well .. all in the way the light plays through it .. and the wonderful way the stone is composed through the scene ... very nice, take care, John

The title raised my curiosity, Beverly.
Fabulous corner in verdant surrounding, a hide away...
