Aftermath of the Christmas & New Year storms; the waters have receded a little but The White Hart at Stopham Bridge in West Sussex, is counting the cost of the winter storms and torrential rain which caused so much havoc in southern England. I took this shot from the Pub car park which was flooded and still had fish swimming in it! To the extreme right you can just see the edge of the skip which was sadly filled with the storm damaged contents of this beautiful and popular old hostelry.

You have taken full advantage of this puddle in front of the pub to catch its perfect mirror reflections. Amazing colours and light on the building. Great detailing too. Good for you to grab this excellent photo opportunity. Nice shot, thanks for sharing.

I remember that you showed us a photograph of this pub before - but taken from quite far over to the left of this with the pub seen across a large expanse of flood. This is a lovely "face on" image taken, again, in the most lovely warm light and with stunning reflections on the not so welcome water.
As always, your composition is excellent, the light and colours are gorgeous, your exposure bang-on and the details and clarity are superb.

j'aime beaucoup les couleurs de cette photo, les bruns, les verts et les bleus se marient divinement créant une atmosphère très agréable. Une belle capture avec un superbe reflet de cette joli bâtisse.

A delightful picture taken in heart-breaking circumstances. Light and reflections are most attractive, as are the beautiful warm tones. Ideally framed and perfectly exposed. I trust the pub is up and running again now; it looks a very nice place for a couple of jars.

very nice capture of the scene after the storm,
clearly a picturesque building, its reflection on flood waters in the foreground makes the picture to seems still more attractive and beautiful,

Maybe many people leaving this pub can see double images of it, but maybe not this way. An attractive pub and the attractions is well double here with a little help from the puddle. Fine colours and good sharpness.

Beautiful house and beautiful colors, you have used this puddle as an interesting mirror, very well spotted and captured

I can see this now, come out of the pub after a beer or twelve, see fish in the car park and swear you will never drink again :) A fantastic result, and proof that every storm cloud has a silver lining. The building is beautiful (Reminds me of the Slaughtered lamb from American Werewolf in London) but the reflection is just superb. This looks like a really postcard perfect place.

again, super sharp my friend.
it has that touch of hdr look that i enjoy so much.
funny name you gave to the shot...i think it could actually work as a name for an actual Pub...the Pub and the Puddle lol
glad to hear the water is calming down a bit.
see you around

It is indeed sad when someone loses their livelihood, like this and, of course, it is felt strongly by the clientele.
On the plus side, for you as a photographer, it makes a remarkable photograph and, maybe, one that may be impossible to take again.
The pub, with its rich colours and olde worlde character, makes a strong and attractive subject. Given that we can see it twice, it doubles the pleasure.
AS always, fine sharp details for the benefit of the viewers.
Have a great w/e,

Flood means often much loos but on the other hand it is an opportunity for fine shots. You use here this puddle to show wonderful reflections of the pub. beautiful composition with marvelous colours.

Excellente photo où l'on admire lumière, couleurs et bien sûr les très jolis reflets dans la flaque d'eau.
subhendu_bagchi (25818) 2014-03-29 0:46
another very good composition here. I like here the colour tone most which created a nice effect with that reflected image in water. I like a the sharp details and fine soft light too. Excellent shot. Tfs.

I know I should feel hostile towards the puddle since it is a result of days of rain in England but I cannot help thinking that it helped to make very good photo at least :-) The reflection of the old pub in it makes the picture so much prettier. I like the colors and warm light as much as the whole composition.
Nice shot and well presented!

At the right place, at the right time, you know to use it!
Romano46 (18466) 2014-03-29 10:11
colpisce in questa foto la bellezza della composizione dominata dal bel riflesso, ma anche i colori non sono meno interessanto con le loro tinte sature che pennellano il paesaGGIO.
Straordinaria, come sempre, la definizione del dettaglio.
Ciao e buon fine settimana

My guess is that the White Horse car park is now dry and business is back to normal Brian. I cannot imagine how devastating it must be to have your home or business under inches of muddy water.
A memorable photograph of an event etched into people's minds for ever.
ChrisJ (99304) 2014-03-30 5:19
Pity about the storms but on a positive note it has afforded a splendid opportunity for a great photo as depicted here, with perfect symmetrical reflections and beautiful warm cold colour contrasts between the red brick pub and the blue sky. Good sharpness and framing too. Tfs!

Really beautiful, looks like a painting! Colours are fantastic and the reflection on the puddle makes it a great shot!
