A view across the Adur River at the Ropetackle Centre in my home town of Shoreham-by-sea, West Sussex, England. A mix of residential flats, a Business Centre and an Arts Centre, the latter being a purpose built community run arts venue that attracts some of the biggest and best performing arts events in the UK. The damage from last winter's storms still visible with the loss of some of the shielding on the embankment wall.

Sorry I've not been too active on TE of late, just seem to have been a bit susy with other things recently.
Anyway, this is another delightful photograph and you really seem to be able to make the very most of the area near to your home.
As with all good photographs, it is the quality of the light (and the way the photographer takes advantage of it) which makes this one special - the way the facades of those colourful buildings are brightly lit and stand out stunningly against a wonderful blue and interesting sky. The boats, too, are perfectly placed and the low sunlight picks them out beautifully against the blue/green sea.
Lovely light and colours, fine composition and exceptional details and sharpness.
P.S. Hi Brian,
Thank you for your kind remarks about my latest picture. I was going to write you a message on the forum then suddenly realised that you didn't visit it, so here's what I was going to write:
On the subject of the resizing of images by the non-beta TE website, Mariusz and I have been making comments to the administrators - you can see the thread here though, Oops, I guess you wouldn't want to do that because your computer doesn't like the forum. Anyway, despite this having been drawn to their attention and despite their having reassured us that everything is now hunky-dory, the problem still seems to persist.
You commented about my picture that it didn't seem to have suffered as much as many others by being reduced to just 790 pixels in width on this non-beta site. I just wonder if that's because I posted it at 1184 pixels wide (as it also appears on "beta" TE). After reading your comment, I looked at Craig's latest picture (from Oia!) which he posted at 810 pixels wide and it has suffered greatly by being reduced.
So perhaps images uploaded at 1200 or 2500 pixels wide don't suffer quite so much? Having said that, this present picture of yours does seem to have lost image quality despite the fact that it has not actually been reduced in size!
Ho, hum. It would indeed be a shame if the popularity of this site declined because I've had so much enjoyment from it over nearly eight years - and learned a lot about photography too from people like yourself. In the meantime, perhaps we should all simply stick to using "beta" TE - I know for a fact that many "old timers" use it exclusively - including Malgo (emka) and Gunnar (saxo042).

how magical the view on this modern architecture is in the warm light. The colors and the cloudy sky has lent the shot mood and beauty. The composition is excellent. My compliments also for the interesting notes.

The colorful set of houses is simply eye caching, I like both parts of the photo: the foreground with boats and the background with beautiful houses and attractive sky

Hello Brian - I envy you living in such a location, there are so many photographic subjects right on your doorstep. This is a modern development but attractive and colourful with the sun gracing the scene.

Interesting collection of colourful buildings which look great combined with the boats and the patterns in the sky.
Have a nice weekend

Good evening Brian,
Special light across this bay made the dwelling complex glow on photo. The blue color balconies is a nice contrast to the baige dominating tones of the houses.
Boats afloat on calm water gave yet another contrast of the diff. subjects.
My best regards,

Oh I see what you mean by the loss of the shielding against the wall front.
otherwise, you have lots of pretty photogenic clouds, blue skies, and of course your classic sharpness and fine attention to details.
this ordinary building looks pretty darn good in your shot. excellent exposure.
see you around

Well ramed, good effect with all these colors, well composed with baots and buildings, interesting skt with these small clouds but with a blue BG.

A colourful façade and one that I don't recognise. The boats in the FG give a good balance to the composition. Lovely quality.
Best wishes, Ann
