A seagull navigator perches on the little abandoned fishing boat stuck fast in the mud at the estuary of the River Adur in the town of Shoreham-by-sea in West Sussex, England. Shame, but this little wreck is going nowhere other than being turned on the tide and drifting in the breeze.
Regrettably I have found it necessary to add a discrete watermark to my images posted on TE as some have been hi-jacked and are now being used commercially on other websites, without my permission.
I realise it is impossible to stop people sharing images once posted on the internet and I have no real issue with that, it is flattering to know that they like them that much………but to make money from them is another matter and infringes copyright.
My anti-virus software dislikes the forums on TE! So please do not think I am rude if I do not answer any comments or questions raised…………

magnificent scene and...really great and intriguing title, that makes us curious about the image.
The seagull looks almost like a captain holding the right course of the boat:)Excellently composed and timed picture.I enjoy also this soft and warm light creating so pleasant mood of the scene.
Have a good day

composizione da manuale e colori fantastici, il tutto condito da un bellissimo riflesso e dal gabbiano che fa da vedetta.
Davvero una foto molto bella e suggestiva.

Hello Brian - There is so much that I enjoy here. The wetland estuary is well captured with its russet grasses contrasting with the beautiful blues of the reflected sky. The light across the water adds in excellent contrast and brightness too. Additionally, the small boat is warmly lit and well detailed. The gull of course is the finishing touch. I love the result of your 300mm FL as its given you that softly diffused backdrop. Nice job all round. Warm regards Rosemary
PS Its seems as if TE is up and working smoothly after all the issues yesterday. I hope your connection is sorted!

Hello Brian, My other neighbour on TE today,
Fabulous moment collected, and only after reading the note realized the boat was actually stood on mud, and low tide veg.'s.
Sky reflected over water, and gave a marvelous blue tone contrast. The boat, as poor as its location, shown under daylight in an excelent clarity. The seagull was a great bonus to the well spotted scene.

another great composition and wonderful setting. Looks like the boat has been there for a while.

hello Brian, another facincting composition. Love the richness of the colour tone. The boat is well placed in the frame and captured masterfully with nice depth of field. Great shot. Tfs.

Ciao e buona giornata

Great, excellent photo with very well saturated colors, this boat is old but eye catching and the seagull is a bonus!
annjackman (15481) 2013-10-10 9:22
The blue water shimmers beautifully and a perfect setting for this old boat. I love the red touches. Of course the gull with its red beak is perched in a great place in the frame.
Very well done.
Kind Regards, Ann

une photo d'une grande qualité, par sa composition et aussi par la douceur de la lumière et des teintes.

A great and very charming presentation of this highly weathered boat.
The blue sky reflected in the water contrasts strongly with the brown colour of the dried up plants.
A very attractive composition and the navigator is an important element of this picture.
Best regards, Paul

Your navigator looks a bit lost here ...
But the composition is really genial. The old rust boat in itself would provide for a great subject but with the cheeky seagull perched on it adds a nice and humorous touch to it. The light is gorgeous and the colors very pleasing.
have a great evening

One of your best shots I think! Love the clarity and detail in this shot and of course the seagull makes it!
Love it - hope you sort your connection out.
jcpix (6504) 2013-10-10 16:05
Love this shot, what a rusted out and decrepit beauty! So many neat aspects about this...from the reflected blue sky intermittent in the marsh, the seagull perched at the helm, the warm sunlight, and a depth of field that's just spot on to enhance the entire scene.
This is a real treat to scan over and pick out all of the fine details, and I can't get enough of the boats textures and personality. I'll simply say it again, what a beauty shot! Enjoy the day ahead.
Cheers from the desert,
We're actually under 38c now...but the air conditioning is still running!? C'mon winter! :)

Wow! awesome snapshot. Perfectly well done. Flawlessly executed image. I love it. Brilliant photo job. Tfs.

Ton "skeeper" semble un peu désolé d'avoir échoué son bateau ici! Superbe photo où tu as superbement exploité les possibilités de ton 300 mm.

Splendid capture! I like the moment of calm in great natural colors. Well taken, enjoy a nice day.

One of the "best"s in your gallery !
Everything here regarding photoghraphic qualifiacations is just top. And the seagull adds a very unique taste to this compo.
TFS and best regards

Hi dear Brian
This is a real beauty, the vertical frame really has added depth here and accentuated the differing levels of blue and brown which cut a wonderful zig zag through the frame. The colours are stunning and I love the textures of the characteristic old boat. Thanks for sharing, it's a cracker.
Have a lovely Friday
macjake (45556) 2013-10-11 11:15
I couldn't help but smile a bit when i read that one.
Its easy to enjoy your series of all these crusted/rusted/old boats!
seems like they are everywhere in this area.
lots to enjoy with this hunk of junk, but i still consider it gold in my photography book!
excellent textures and grundge.
Didi (51253) 2013-10-12 1:41
Interesting tight frame and good view on the wreck with the presence of the seagull
npecanhuk (56350) 2013-10-12 9:48
You were at the right place and the perfect moment to take this wonderful picture!
Level of sharpness, colors, light, vertical format, contrasts, chosen pov and, above all, composition are all oustanding photo qualities here and they all truly pleased me!
I love the title too!
I really enjoy the presence of that seagull!
TFS - congrats,
Enjoy your week-end,
ChrisJ (91168) 2013-10-13 11:35
Love the solitary seagull and the striking warm cold color contrasts between the blue sky / reflected blue skylight and the yellow green saltbush and aged yellow shell of the decaying old boat. Fantastic sharpness and density. Nice use of a shallow dof which is perfectly focused on the body of the boat leaving the front and back of the image oof. Tfs!
mkamionka (27045) 2013-10-15 2:41
very well spotted scene! The boat is so damaged what makes it ver photogenic. The sea gull adds a nice touch indeed. The real highlight are the patches of water around which reflect the blue sky, it results in a very interesting effect.
pyffepa (623) 2013-10-15 9:34
A lovely picture of that ran aground boat.
The subject is well focused, I like the warm light and the repetition of red spots.
The seagull is added value ;o)
