As part of the current Adur River clean up, tragically this old cabin cruiser has been broken up and removed. Seen here on a freezing cold and snowy January day, it has obviously seen better days as it lies beached on the estuary mud in Shoreham-by-sea, West Sussex, England. The red paint on the hull barely visible as the green weed takes a hold due to the boat being fully submerged at each high tide.

The extreme dilapidation of this old river cruiser makes an excellent subject for the discerning photographer. I like the point of view and the partial framing. The grey sky makes a fitting backdrop. Superb rendering of the tones and textures.

a very nice composition, the dimmed but warm light is very peculiar here. It makes the colors of the boat pop up whereas the more reserved background looks like a painting. Very nice contrast indeed, great sense of scale too.
My best wishes

Lovely old ship. I like the colors and the textures made by the passing of time. Well taken, enjoy a good day.

A nautical theme it is then...
I do like the desolate look of this once proud vessel against a most appropriate grey sky.
In fact the overcast sky seems to have worked in your favour helping to bring out the lovely reds and greens.
Sorry for the confusion Brian,I see that Gladys is still logged on!Silly me.
All the best Les.

quel ancien bâteau, il a fini sa vie et est posé sur le sable, quel rendu des tons et ces couelurs douces, la peinture qui s'écaille sueprbe vue.

I just fall in love with your boat series. Here another one with a nice and interesting colour tone. Like the muted colours of January. The upper part of the abandoned boat is beautifully decorated (naturally) with vegetation. Like the atmosphere. Interesting view, well spotted on. Excellent composition. Tfs.

Hello Brian ,
A superb capture of this old boat , partially covered by green moss . The framing is excellent . I like your choice of PP , that adds to the nostalgic mood .

The yellow red sandy shingle and peeling red paint contrast well against the pale blue grey sky to give a pleasing warm cold color contrast. It would be interesting to see this at high tide, but obviously you would need to be in a boat with no holes in the side or bottom! The watermarks high up on the boat and the green algae and seaweed tell us this boat is well past its use by date. Tfs!

Sad tale about the boat - seaside decay contrasts with the usual images one can imagine. I like the mood of this light in this shot, it contrasts sharply with the vivid red on the tip of the bows and the green algae on the rooftop.

another forgotten and deserted "beauty"(but hopefully only till next fishing season).
The red and green parts of the boat contrast really superbly with the grey sky.
Beautiful and definitely having its own charm composition and scene.

Hope you're doing well. As you know, I have been quite busy recently, but I still sneak a peek as often as possible (I think I have a TE addiction!? :)) to follow along...you've had some great stuff as always, but I couldn't pass by this one tonight without a quick note. The details, composition, sharpness, etc...all there, but it's the vibe I get from this lighting and ever so slight misty haze that's just irresistible. What a fantastic effect! Whether is be natural or some PP work, you've captured the mood succinctly. Beauty work! Take good care, be back around again soon. Enjoy the day ahead.

Très beaux tons d'image qui renforcent l'effet de "fin de vie" de ce bateau et très bon cadrage. Très jolie réalisation.

Sad but the boat looks beautiful covered by seaweeds and makes for an interesting photography subject. Well chosen day with perfect weather to make this image.

Hello Brian - Pity this wonderful subject has seen its demise but at least you have this lovely, moody shot for a 'keepsake'! You have captured a sadness here; the poor old boat looks unloved and quite dejected as weed overtakes her once bright paintwork. Not the best of weather here but absolutely perfect for this shot. Superb shot. Warm regards Rosemary

Complimenti
Ciao e buona serata

Not your usual bright blue sky and this picture may have benefited from that. The greyness of most of the sky and the brown, murky beach contrast so well with the green weed on the old boat and that vibrant splash of red. It is a fabulous picture representing the bleakness of the place in winter. I do think old, rotting boats make more interesting pictures than sleek new ones!
Kind Regards, Ann

another cool subject.
what a shame this is being 'cleaned up' lol
you'd think they'd place it somewhere as a dedication to the past or something - in a classy manner.
this is for sure one of those ugly-beautiful subjects.
and I like that we can see some snow on the houses in the bg too.
another sweet shot!
