Canoeists on the water and boats in the mud on the River Adur in my hometown of Shoreham-by-sea, West Sussex, England. A calm, warm late summer's day with the tide receding and the sun just beginning to get low in the sky.

I always look forward to yor wonderful posts and now you have reached an amazing 900. Many congratulations for consistently posting images of very high quality with a unique and recognisable style. The image today has the most sublime light from the saturated tones of the sand in the FG to the delicate colours of the sky. The brightly coloured boat sits very well in the composition.
Very best wishes, Ann

Congratulations on having posted 900 amazing photographs on TE! I must confess that I cannot, for the life of me, recall a single picture which has not been up to the remarkably exacting standards of this one.
Again, the light here is what makes the shot so delightful and you have managed this warm evening sunlight perfectly. Your composition is excellent with the chasm in the shore making a fine foreground feature and the strong diagonal of the shoreline leading us past the boats to the canoeists and the rows of distant houses.
Gorgeous light and reflections, fabulous colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness, as always.
Bartleby (13238) 2013-09-03 2:23
another beautifully laid out composition with something to see on each layer and of course a gorgeous warm light to shroud it all. Congrats on this milestone and the steady quality of your posts!
ChrisJ (91292) 2013-09-03 2:28
Did you remove all the plastic bags, empty water bottles and paper, rubbish etc, before shooting this? I often had this problem in heavily touristed areas where litter was a problem. I usually just kicked it out of the way. But here, there is only minimal evidence of litter. That is sometimes an advantage of little known off the beaten track places like this. Love the early evening light and warm cold color contrasts. Good sharpness and depth. Tfs!

The colorful boat in an almost monochromatic scene is wonderful, and so is the reflection on the wet sand! Beautiful composition, and congratulations for the 900th picture on TE!
mkamionka (27115) 2013-09-03 5:43
congratulations! You have been so productive and so valuable for the TE community. One can learn a lot form your gallery.
Very interesting and a bit surprising composition here the mud in the foreground goes suddenly down it looks at first as if the water level was not flat but exhibited some curved and shapes here -just after a while of looking at it I realized that it is the mud and that the water ends up a bit further. Well used boat of course and great light as well.

Happy 900th you old so n so! Nice late evening sunlight here. I hope the water didn't recede too quickly for the canoeists and they got stuck in the mud?! Great sharpness and lovely warm tones.

Warm tones of afternoon sunshine look great, especially on sand. Really deep perspective with lots of details from close front to village in back. That boat is a well placed colourful detail.
PaulVDV (17333) 2013-09-03 12:07

Good morning Brian,
Big "congrats" on the 900, seems like just yesterday you hit the previous century mark...my, time does fly by! What a terrific shot to commemorate the milestone. Not only is it a charming scene along the river, but it has the personal touch of being your hometown. Now I have a better understanding of your location and accessibility to the coastline which has proved to most advantageous. :)
That colorful boat placed ever so smartly in the frame is just the right accent of bold color against this soothing and inspiring light of the early evening, and the reflection on the water is a lovely bonus. You picked a great scenic venue that just exudes a peaceful and calming atmosphere. Be it dawn or dusk, you sure know how to paint the imagery! Just don't go wrenching that back trying to get the perfect shot! :) Take care.
Friendly wishes from the Valley of the Sun,

Congratulations on your 900th photo here on TE. I have still a long way to go ...
There is not much water in this river isn't it. But the warm and golden light is very pleasant and the colorful boats add a nice touch of color too.
have a great day

macjake (45588) 2013-09-04 13:21
its always fun to view these sea beds when the water is at low tide, it fullfills my curiosity!
gotta love all those browns and red-brick-like colors!
and you again have that purple/bluish sky - beautiful!
but for me the highlight must be the rainbow colored boat...did you place that there? haha
great shot for its colors and sharpness.
congrats on reaching 900, 1000 is not too far around the corner!

Hello Brian - I have been trying to catch up with recent posts and I noted this your 900th upload! Congratulations on two counts; one for your dedication, quality of posts and the inspiration you give me, and two for the beauty of this shot. I love it; the warm light is beyond attractive and the textures in the mud bank are exceptionally well captured, I can just about feel the gloopiness. Top quality management and a real pleasure to view. Warm regards Rosemary
PS. Are you anywhere near the fracking controversy?
ikeharel (44125) 2013-10-11 0:36
Good morning Brian,
Golden afternoon light shed marvelous tone over the beach in low-tide. Water-level differentials are very notable on the photo, for me its a unique sight - as we do not have such tidal rate in Israel coasts.
Marvelous seafront scenery, well collected details.
Have a nice Friday,
