Photographer's Note
A February sunset casts its light across the walls of St Nicolas’ Church in Shoreham-by-sea, West Sussex. St Nicolas' Church is an Anglican church in Old Shoreham, an ancient inland settlement that is now part of the town of Shoreham-by-sea, West Sussex. It was founded on a riverside site by the Anglo Saxons at the start of the 10th century, possibly on the site of a 5th-century predecessor.

Hello Brian,
What a great day you had to take this lovely picture. The warmly lit walls of the church contrast beautifully with the deep blue sky. Excellent point of view to show the architecture of this typically English church. Superb rendering of the textures in the architecture. I trust you are recovered from the festive celebrations :-)

Hi Brian,
lovely old architecture, well presented from a good POV, but a real highlight as you point out in the title is the extraordinary light resulting in great colors and overall atmosphere. I like especially the shades of the tree branches on the roof of the church.
Excellent work,
M

Hello Brian,
We often talk about the importance of the light and this shot is a very good example. The low sunlight on the side of the church bathes it in gold, emphasises the lovely textures and seems to bring out a very 3D effect. In addition, the shadows of the trees are wonderful, like huge gnarled hands spreading across the wall. Lovely composition with a good lead line.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Brian
Une lumière latérale qui donne un effet 3D à l'image et met bien en vedette l'architecture de cette église. Tu as réussi à bien maitriser le fort contraste entre les zones d'ombre et de lumière.

Hello Brian,
The light is beautiful, the composition is excellent.
The blue tone is quite weird: is it a post-production work that gives this blue tone, or a filter on the lense?

Hi Brian!
I find these little cemetries so simple and interesting! I sometimes see them on great shots! As usual, the colours are really good and I like the atmosphere of this soft sunlight on the church. Even those two birds add to the peacefulness of this place! I like it!
Have a great New Year!
