In Brian's backyard.
Arundel castle is situated in magnificent grounds overlooking the River Arun in West Sussex. It was built at the end of the 11th century by Roger de Montgomery, Earl of Arundel.

I am surprised that your photograph hasn't had more attention, it is a sharp exposure, has a good lead line and a f/g tree to create that all important sense of depth.
I'm afraid there are a lot of people just looking and not critiquing, these days.
My warm regards,

A lovely castle in black and white almost a silver castle.
We see very well all details of the facade with the windows and the towers.
Composition and presentation are perfect
Very well done, TFS

your commentary made me smile. Not sure I could cope with the gardens if this were my backyard. I live only a 20 minute drive from here and a visit to the gardens and grounds of this place has been on my list for far too long. This wonderful B&W shot has made me all the more enthusiastic - so thanks for that. Almost a year old this shot and the skies here today are just the same, and its cold too! Adds to the atmosphere though in this image! Excellent!

Interesting to see this view of the castle from the landward side. The upwards point of view emphasises its size and scale. Good choice of black and white to create a sense of drama. And, an excellent conversion with a fine range of tones and very good clarity.

Castles are my favourite subject, and this is a doozy! Lke something straight from Arthurian legend, it is so perfectly suited to black and white. The whole scene is moody and the stark tree branches really enhance this, as does the sky. Beautiful place and capture.

Black & white, exposure, sharpness, horizontal format, chosen pov and composition are all excellent!
