magnificent composition!I like both the landscape as well as this beautiful Castle in the distance. But one thing makes your composition spectacular, namely this soft and lively light. It´s just great how it divides the scene into shaded foreground and so nicely lit up background.
Have a nice day

Great capture, Brian. The myriad mix of colors brings it out so well. The dead tree is a hit!
Wanda1 (15000) 2014-01-23 2:15
This is certainly a beautiful landscape and so well photographed. I like the contrast between the warm tones which highlight the castle and its surrounding trees, and the cooler tones in the foreground with the water and green pastures. The dead tree gives good foreground interest and works well in the composition. Clarity and sharpness is perfect. Lovely.

The castle caught in the wintry sunlight makes an excellent focal point. The tree makes a good anchor point and helps guide the viewer across the river toward the castle. I like the contrasting lighting and the agreeable natural tones.

The light on the castle and its immediate f/g really draws the eyes across the scene to this fine spotlight. That doesn't mean we don't notice the other features in the composition, they are all important to the whole, it's just that this is immediately designated the focal point.
I like how the f/g tree creates a wonderful balance with the castle.
Oh, I do sympathise about the devastation that has occurred in these lowland areas. No amount of insurance compensates for the losses and the inconvenience.
Today is quite fair though we had lots of rain yesterday.
My warm regards,

We get this year a very wet winter with a lot rain and no frost.

it is truely a magnificent photograph here. Love the layers a lot. There are a lot of eye catching elements here. The tree has nice textured branches in foreground, where as a nice castle can be seen in BG. Great depth and sharpness. Love the vibrant colours a lot. Superb work Brian. Tfs and congrats for it.

This view is simply fantastic, beautiful landscape with a fabulous castle, excellent photo
PaulVDV (23417) 2014-01-23 10:57
The castle certainly looks very impressive but from this POV there are a lot of obstacles to get there.
Very attractive composition in horizontal layers.
A very well detailed picture with a splendid colour contrast between the blue waters and the sunlit trees around the castle.
Best regards, Paul

I like the composition of this picture with the wide landscape.

Here, there are some details I think I've seen before in other pictures that you've posted! It seems to be a wonderful place, for sure! And you were having some floods over there, right?!
I love the light, colors and composition!
TFS - congrats,

Greetings and salutations Sir Brian of Sussex,
Looks like that bird turd that targeted your head was indeed a stroke of good luck...for us, because it must have lead to you posting this picture today for our viewing pleasure. This is something else, I thought it was a watercolor painting seeing it in the thumbnail gallery, the color pallet is extraordinary! Seriously, did you wring out a painters brush for this bad boy?
That's one spooky looking tree in the foreground, something straight out of Poltergeist...good thing you took this from a distance or it might have reached out and taken you! I tell you what, I'll trade you some of this warm, sunny weather here in Az. right now for this kind of view...hands down beats the tar out of cactus and tumbleweeds! I have to assume your newly formed webbed feet have helped you fare much better around these flooded areas??
Top shelf photo B, this has a quiet calm and an intrinsic quality of ambiance...a wonderful image to end my day on. Happy Friday!
Cheers from PHX,

A super shot Brian. I love the way we have a broad view of the flooded landscape in cool hues against which the warmer sunlit woodland and castle contrast. Here you show us a magnificent landscape of two parts which tells the story of the inclement but beauty of the weather in your part of the world. Magnificent. Warm regards Rosemary

Une lumière magique et une superbe composition exploitant de belle façon cet arbre et ces champs inondés au premier plan. L'arbre et le beau château équilibrent parfaitement l'image.

you managed to match two pictures in here. There is the first one which is reporting the scene of flood in this are and there is also the second one which shows lovely landscape featuring impressive castle. That makes the image more interesting. The composition also is very good: the naked tree draws attention in the foreground while the water separates it from the other point of interest - the castle. All these in nice colors and light.
emka (82678) 2014-01-24 23:50
even when I find very attractive all these flood photos, I look at them a bit horrified. But this dry tree looks great against the blue water and you used great opportunity of interesting photos. Fantastic view of Arundel castle in the distance. I was there in 1977, ages ago :). Probably I have some black and white photos.

hi brian. not that it is in square format, but this one has been my favourite from your photos from arundel. such a depth and so many details. the bare tree stands there like a legendary figure, and is perfectly placed for a superbly balanced composition. the top and bottom halves are like two seperate photos, which i like the most. great!
Noel_Byrne (26117) 2014-01-25 7:33
This is a beauty. Any grat castle will catch my eye, my favourite subject but this is extra special. The vertical lines of the water are very unexpected and make this so unique, whie the tree looks like its just wandered off the set of a horror movie! Floods can be catastrophic, but also so beautiful.
Tanks for sharing this.
All the best
