Photographer's Note
This is Hartshill Wharf on the Coventry Canal, built around 1867.
The canal system around Coventry formed an important means of transporting stone form the nearby quarries. This stone was used throughout the UK to help build the road networks that eventually replaced the canals as a form of transport.
Enjoy.

Hello Michael,
We get a nice view on these old Hartshill Wharf, also with a lovely reflection in water.
The dark clouds care for a lovely contrasting picture.
A nice composition, good captured too.
Original colors and very pleasant for look at.
Very well done, TFS.

Hi Michael,
The dark threatening sky looks superb in this, as does the reflection on the muddy water. A very fine building, and the way it leads into the building there, it looks almost like a road. Excellent composition.
All the best

Hello Mike,
a comprehensive and elegant composition with effective emphasis on depth and perspective. You have lit the picture superbly and have captured a heavy but very attractive mood. I love the unusual combination of colours and the space you have given to the foreground and its dark and light reflections. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
Ourania

Interesting shot of this gateway to the canal system. As I've been teaching early US history, I've really come to appreciate the amazing history of US canals, which for a while - right up until the railroad passed them by - were being developed as the best route into the American interior; much of the upper Midwest (Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin) were very much developed by large canals, especially the Erie, which opened up the Great Lakes to New York trade. Then of course there were smaller canals like these, created for getting inland goods to larger rivers.
It looks, given the crane, that this one might still be in use in some way?
Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Mike,
The place has an interesting architecture and was presented from a well selected POV to make the view quite nice. The cloudy heavy sky looks amazing and it's a great plus of your presentation. Well done.
Have a nice week!

Hello Mike,
An interesting note and a lovely moody shot of this canal wharf and its buildings, perfectly composed and softly lit beneath a very threatening sky.
Lovely subdued colours, fine light, perfect exposure and exquisite detail and sharpness.
Beautiful!

nice idea for photo and the result is actually quite appealing despite the lack of sun. Good perspective and natural, slightly muted colors. Very nice composition.
