Coventry, West Midlands
Coventry is one of most unusual cities in England: almost totally destroyed by air raids in November 1940, the subsequent rebuilding resulted in a city dominated by Modernist architecture, some of which is interesting in its own right, though mostly just plain ugly.
However, a number of the most significant old buildings were restored - including the one pictured here - and are as fine as one would find in anywhere in England.
