Birmingham is currently undergoing massive redesign around New Street. Not only is the old Pallasades shopping centre (next to the Bullring) being redeveloped but so are the roads which are being dug up whilst tram lines are installed. Apparently, this is being done in anticipation of the controversial HS2 rail project.
Whilst this work is going on there are a series of boarded walkways that funnel people to the all important shopping areas - lest they forget! Here I was walking through one and stood just to one side and snapped a few passers by who were scurrying to the shops as if they only had one day left on earth. Consumption used to be a nasty working class disease from which people died now ardent conspicuous consumers are the living dead!

excellent title for this clever composition. Loved the blurred b & w figure representing any/ every customer contrasted with the bold, colourful shouty signs of the sellers.(The woman seems haplessly compelled to follow these imperious directions).

you "bang" (and rock) with that direct & powerful graphism. and a true testimony for the quote: "find the background and wait, the foreground will compose itself"

C'est très bien fait, une bonne idée et bien concrétisée; La photo est d'un bon graphisme, vivante avec la présence du consommateur.

That blurry character is simply hilarious!
I suppose we see this image pretty much the same way. As an allegory of urban people seeking solace from consumerism. Kind of melancholic colours fit well.

such a cool shot. I'm a bit puzzled though as to how the character can be blurred although she doesn't appear to be moving? Anyhow, the effect brings a lot of contrast to the straight and sharp arrows.

I really love your idea here, a very graphical shot ! The composition is very well balanced, with strong geometric lines.

The design of the arrows and the commercial sign made me think of a contemporary artwork (it would have fit well with the message of your note) ! The blurry woman is particularly well set in the framing.
