Photographer’s Note

St. Mary's Island and Lighthouse, at the north side of Whitley Bay, are centrally placed on this coastline and captures much of its character. The island is connected to the mainland by a short causeway, which the sea covers once every twelve hours.

Beautiful picture, Fara,

Your timing is perfect: shooting the lighthouse and causeway at low tide to catch the grooves and forms of the sea floor makes the scene very striking and attractive. Moreover, it is shot with gorgeous clarity and superb color quality. Catching the reflection of the lighthouse in the waters is a very nice touch, giving the shot symmetry. And, of course, you have succeeded in sharing a very beautiful sunset that leaves a lasting impression. Wonderful image - well done and thanks for sharing!

Hi Fara,

Great POV and framing in this picture. You seem to got the timing of the shot right as well with the ridges in front leading the eye to the light house as well as the sunset clouds in the left adding the colour to the picture.

Hello Fara,
A beautiful sunset composition, where all the elements are perfectly placed in the frame. I like the low point of view with the foreground ripples in the sand giving a great sense of depth and the inclusion of the reflection. The sky is quite spectacular with the backlit clouds. Superb colours and good clarity complete a wonderful image.

Hi Fara,
Great photo with beautiful colors and light. Well composed and with many details visible like the waves in the sand in the foreground.
Good reflections also of the lighthouse in between the stones.
I like how the flat foreground slowly goes up to the bit higher area around the lighthouse and really stands out clear. Well done!

This is wonderful .. Love the splash of green in th foreground .. the glowing and ominous distant sky .. the way the reflection is broken by the scattered stones is my favorite part .. gives the place a very desolate and windswept feel .. very nice. take care, John
