Photographer’s Note

St. Mary's Lighthouse is on the tiny St. Mary's Island, just north of Whitley Bay on the coast of North East England. The small rocky tidal island is linked to the mainland by a short concrete causeway which is submerged at periods of high tide.

This is a fine shot of this great lighthouse. Your composition is great placing the lighthouse to one side and showing the rough sea and wonderful sky on the other. The lighting and colors are fine with excellent sharpness and detail.

Hi Fara,
I like your choice of panaramic format here as it provides us with a wide view of the surroundings, and it seems to emphasise the true purpose of the lighthouse. The wide expanse of ocean seems to balance with the focal point of the lighthouse. The greenery on that small island contrasts superbly with the general blue tones elsewhere. Well done.

I commented on your latest posting from this location with the pink skies, but this photo showing the lighthouse in bright sunlight and blue sky background is very attractive. Also the wide format affords a wonderful balance bringing clouds and white capped waves into visual harmony. Those dark posts sticking out of the water add the final touch. Nice work Fara.

the composition you present is quite good!
All the elements are arranged in the image very well for the most pleasing result. You did all you could for the best balance of shadow and highlight without losing details. The colours work well as a whole, too.
