Photographer’s Note

Taken yesterday (very) early in the morning (I didn't know that we had switched to winter time...). It was the first bit of sunshine for 2 weeks so I thought it would be nice to go out for a little wander. The colors in the woods were simply amazing so I decided to head for this bend in the river I had spotted a while ago for "autumn shots". It's along the river Wey just a bit south of Guildford on the north downs way.

Guildford would actully take its name from this place: It used to be a ford and there is some red sand there so it was called the Golden ford (guildford) by the pilgrims who used to pass by there, or so says the legend.

I almost didn't touch this shot, only pushed the shadows a bit, crazy colors!!!
