I couldn't decide what to post today so I thought perhaps a typical picture of the area close to where I live. In the distance is part of the North Downs in Surrey, a line of chalk hills through parts of Surrey and Kent that stretch all the way to the white cliffs of Dover. They have been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. You are looking at an area slightly East of Box Hill, Dorking. The Olympic cycle race will pass over and down these hills. The white scar is the site of an old quarry. I used to pass this view every day when driving 25 miles to work although this photograph was taken from a footpath between the wonderfully quaint villages of Brockham and Betchworth in the Dorking District.

Cette plante a le don de beaucoup améliorer un paysage ordinaire. Le point de vue ajoute de la profondeur à l'ensemble et la lumière est très belle.

Hello Ann ,
The same subject that mine today :) . Interesting to see , at aproximatively the same date , the flowering is similar , but the trees have not yet leaves in your region . There is 2 or 3 weeks between southern Brittany (where i live) and Normandy , and may be 3 weeks or more with some parts of England . I suppose that greenery comes yet later in Scotland .
That is a thing I like to see on TE .

living on the South Downs I rarely get enough time to see the Northern version, and seeing this shot I should really make more of an effort. Beautiful colours and a stunning mixture of textures and tones. Captivating!

It is indeed lovely to see pictures from the area where you live and, particularly, as it's not a part of the country I know at all.
The old quarry lets us know that this is indeed chalk or limestone and the hills are perfectly sandwiched between a lovely azure sky and the bright and intense yellow of an extensive plantation of oilseed rape.
Excellent composition, gorgeous bright but true colours, perfect exposure and exquisite detail and sharpness.
P.S. Don't you agree that it's just a little strange that we can see no photographs whatsoever on TE from the U.K. with any pictures of the Jubilee apart from a couple which Martin has uploaded?

This is a very pleasant daily life capture, with personal connection. The yellow colours are very good and I just wonder what this view looks like today. A present picture as a WS maybe?

Well composed using the rule of thirds with excellent sharpness, colour and saturation. I particularly like the warm cold color contrasts between the blue sky & yellow rapeseed, or canola or mustard (sorry, I can't tell the difference). There is a plateau behind Brisbane called the Darling Downs stretching from Toowoomba to Warwick, & the topography looks similar to this, apart from the chalk cliffs. Tfs!

Love the vividness of carpeted yellow field, Its very artistically created, a superb rendition of this image in fine details and sufficiently lit. Perspective and the composition is just right but I love the contrast it creates bordered by those lush trees in the bg which add to this cheery landscape. A glorious field in the spirit of the season. Great work, Congrats.
