Photographer's Note

I was killing time this morning as my car was in for repair and as you can see it was a freezing foggy day.
I walked to Ipswich marina and was pleased with the colour and atmosphere the fog was making.

A poem by Mervyn Linford
After freezing fog
It s cold along the river
and the quiet is almost tangible.
Reeds are furred with frost
and slithers of thin ice cling to the margins
with their frigid fingers.
The fish are lying deep-jewels in a casket.
Trees are armorial-feathered fleur-de-lis
This is winters heraldry:
A crow is a black prince
flying over white fields
and the ice-queen
touches the unbelievers.

On mornings such as these
we re in the reign of light:
gold on a blue shield-
the landscape in ermine.
