Photographer's Note

It may be a stretch of the imagination to call Covehithe a city nowadays but in the Middle Ages it was a thriving port on the Suffolk coast. St Andrews Church must have been a magnificent structure - even the ruins still standing have a sense of grandeur about them. But with the erosion of the coast and the loss of much of the land the port stood on, the church was abandoned, and a much smaller one erected within the walls.
