[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I find trees against the skyline as attractive in their lace-like winter garb as in their full summer clothing of leaves. The technical details are as shown and this included a 2 stop under-exposure to obtain a solid silhouette. This image is half of the original frame. The wind was strong enough to make me use a tripod with my hand placed firmly on the top of the camera.

Hello Vic
Nice well-composed picture is this.
Bad weather and B&W are a good couple.
Picture looks like telling a story.
What happened with the person that passed the open gate?

Hi Vic,

Terrific composition and silhouettes.
Narrative enhanced with B&W.

Best,

Michael

Oh, Vic. I LOVE this kind of shot. I like winter landscapes better than summer anyway. This is a great silhouette. I love the starkness and the stormy sky. The light behind the branches is a real eyecatcher, too. This is great. Wow. TFS, Shelly

Hi Vic,

Quite dark picture, but as you say the patterns of this tree look very attractive..a nice POV and a pleasant B&W. Well done...fits well into the wintery atmosphere.

Have a nice day, Léonie

Vic,

Wonderful image .. one of the things I was really trying to learn here recently is dealing with what to shoot in the "boring" winter (especially without snow) .. using the trees like this is just amazing and wonderful .. here you have turned it into the main subject .. it has such wonderful lacing (as you called it) it is really nice to look at .. I think it also picks up a ton of symbolism from the leafless tree, winter, the darkness.

thanks for sharing it.

John

Dear Vic,
This is a wonderful image. it has so much mood and atmosphere, you can almost hear the wind blowing through the leafless tree. It creates a nice image to imagine you their with the tripod catching the moment, ciao.

Une photo comme on en voit peu,Vic.
J'aime la belle présence de l'arbre qui dévoile toutes ses branches sur un ciel tourmenté. Le N&B est bien choisi pour ce graphisme de toute beauté.
Jacques

Hi Vic,
Excellent shot of the tree; you have captured nicely the atmosphere in B&W. Well done.

Hello vic,
What a wonderful picture!. this tree has a superbe shape and you get ut very well with the cloudy sky as background.
Best regards & best whishes for the new year.

Très belle exposition, qui ne tombe juste pas dans la sous-exposition. La composition est très bonne.

L'horizon ne me semble pas parfaitement plat.

This is an excellant silhouette, as a forester I am always spying out nice tree shots.
It may look better if you rotated it, as the horizon although I suspect is correct looks slightly wrong for the photo and I don't suppose a leaning tree will matter and may in fact add interest.

Simon

Hi Vic,
Nice composition and good use of black and white.
Thanks for sharing.
