Photographer’s Note
Sheffield - Steel Town - the edge of reason - in transit between Liverpool and Rotterdam - the journey deposits me here for an hour - resurrected from thousands of jobs, an industrial base demolished, a trade, an industry, passed on - newly completed regeneration schemes - civic pride restored in the new stainless apparel of a stunning sculpture and the service economy which seems to suffice for reality in this land these days.........forget the gritty shots of decay and poverty to be had in the flats behind the station - such joy to set that red set against the sky in the blue hour.......

Hey Kev,
Very interesting structure in front of the station - no doubt as a tribute to Sheffield's steel producer past. But, the reason I am commenting this shot is that I like how you framed this structure with the background station details, and the very good light you have managed to achieve.

Hmm, I thought I recognized this place. Then I realized it's not the first time you've posted a photo of it. Quite an eye-catcher. Is there anything more post-modernly ironic than a shiny steel abstract sculpture to represent a steel induistry that no longer exists? It's like streets in suburban developments named after trees that have been cut down to build them. Wherever you see this kind of thing, history is sweating. And you have to wonder what kind of future lies in store. Best, -Hugh

Hi Kev!!
Very special and original composition, opposite old / new, and different lights on extremes. Different shadows, different greys, different blues . . . Is Sheffield - Steel Town , two different cities yesterday / today??

it's a bit like a poem what you're saying in the note... and yes - the red and the blue hour set the "direction" in this image...
what a flow of evening charm in this photo...
