Photographer’s Note

Taken the other week on the power line to the potting shed this is one of 5 fledglings from this years 1st brood. This is their first day out of the nest taken at a round 9.00am so not used to flying yet, and later in the day they where all back in the nest so a succesfull first flight day.
It was a very bright morning and one side of the face was heavily in shadow, so decided to try some flash in the picture to overcome this.

Great idea to bully the birds that aren't sure on their wings yet, Rob :o) This is a very pretty bird, and you were lucky he chose to sit on a two coloured powerline to add some graphism. Great.

Cute capture of this timid-looking fledgling nicely set off against the blue sky. Lovely silky-looking feathers on chest and belly ;-))

I love the ruffled feathers, it adds character to the photo. I have held one of these birds before and they feel like velvet. Well done on a great photo.

Very nice to watch this lovely bird - in fact do I have 3 pairs nesting at my property this summer and already go some photos of 3 kids begging for food -

This also the kind of bird which wakes me 4am but never mind ;-) great work of yours - thanks for sharing Robert.
