Photographer’s Note
This pannel of Lepidoptera (butterflys and moths) were all shot on the Nursery I run, where all the dragonflies come from.
thought that they should have a bit of an outing, haveing assembled them into this format for a photo comp (2nd place).
this by the way is my 1st LP attempt hope it looks OK.
A) Ringlet butterfly , F4 1/320sec
B) Common Heath Moth , F4 1/320sec
C) Small Tortoiseshell butterfly F4 1/125sec
D) Comma butterfly f7.1 1/100sec
E) Painted Lady butterfly F3.5 1/125sec
F) Gate keeper butterfly F3.2 1/125sec
G) Cinnabar moth F5.6 1/125sec
For the comp they were all in seperate frames execpt for the Comma which wasnt included because I was only allowed 6 pics, the background was too much in focus and also it upset the balance/symetry in the 6, but have put it in here because I still like it very much.
The pictures were all reworked from the original camera files seperatley then rotated/cropped some slightly to fit the line up.
for TE I reduced the size of each one and assembled them on a background and added black line framing to keep them seperate still.
hope you all enjoy them.
STOP PRESS: SINCE ORIGINALLY POSTING A COMBINATION OF PICTURES C & E WITH F ROTATED TO HORIZONTAL AND PLACED IN THE MIDDLE AS IT WORKED BETTER THAN THE COMMA, WELL ANY WAY THE`VE WON A 1ST PLACE IN ANOTHER PHOTO COMP.HURRA ;0))))#

So, you did manage to find out how to make a large post ;-). These all look gorgeous, all are sharp and entirely within the DOF range, colours are true to life, a great presentation.

Very nice presentation! I love the way you have framed them with the black borders. Very elegant. The only thing for me that is distracting is the little letters in the bottom corners. Maybe it would have been just as easy to put in your description (from left to right) or something of that sort. Great job overall.

Nice shot(s)! Well, I scored 6/7 - not too bad, I failed on the Common Heath Moth. Technically they're all good, although I feel the Small Tortoiseshell could stand a fraction more sharpening. I love the way you've aligned them all around the middle, and the framing is simple enough not to detract from the subject matter. Good job :-D

I noticed this one by following you question in the forum regarding large posts. I'm glad i saw it. These are some very nice macro shots you have and with an informative note. The colours are really nice. It was especially intresting to see No 3 and No 5 as it is easy to beleive that it is the same type of butterfly when they fly by.
