The photo was taken in the Workhouse in Southwell. Volunteers showed the visitors what the life was in the past. There was some vegetable staff in the box.. the rest of the story is yours..:-D Thanks for looking.

I rather enjoy the contrast between the ladies clothes and those of the spectators, harsh times for those who were unlucky enough to endure them.
The facial expressions are delightful adding much interest to the scene.
Warm regards Les.

A good note and an interesting link to details of this "poor house" that's now been taken over by the National Trust.
And a good photograph too, another of your fine interior shots taken in poor light but using the full high ISO capabilities of your camera. I love the facial expressions - especially of the lady in the middle - and the concentration, of course, immediately goes to the vegetables being prepared for the pot.
Lovely natural light and colours and excellent detail and clarity.

I like this image very much! The boy looks as if he travelled in time to another century.

The woman sitting down has a priceless expression, she has seem something very surprising in the vegetables, perhaps one of them is a rather unique shape :) a very humorous capture which is surprising considering the subject is a work house.
Thanks as always.

This is an interesting and amusing photo. It's interesting to watch the old clothes and learn about the history of the workhouse, and it's wonderful to watch the facial expressions of the women and the child. It's a slight pity that there is somebody standing in the background. A photo on TE isn't really worth a lot of effort, but it would have been relatively easy to eraze him in a humanitarian way through clone-stamping.

Like the intention of keeping alive ways of life, more if it is done with sense of humor as showed these women and their expressions
Like to see them dressed as in old days
