Photographer’s Note
This little beast which about 1.25ins/34mm. long will become a beautiful black and red day flying moth next year.
This was taken under a very dull over cast sky. So had to lift the levels and brightness a little, and a general overal unsharp mask

Nice shot! I wish the composition was a little more interesting though, in this pose he's just flat on to us... I'd also consider running AutoContrast to punch it up a little more ;-)

The way to make it more interesting would be to line your subject up from one angle to another. I can't believe that little caterpillar has such large feces behind it. I think the colors are pretty good. Nice job.

You make insects so appealing Rob, this is definitely your forte, I look forward to seeing what next you are going to capture. Not as spectacular as the dragonflies, but what can beat those!
Do the yellow and black marks serving as a warning to predators, or is it just show?
