Photographer’s Note

An excited young lady emerges between two Chinese banners at the night time celebrations of the Chinese New Year at the Lakeside in Nottingham University - imagine how she feels to come through those banners and be faced with a sea of thousands of faces - there were big crowds there for this wonderful event which included large scale projections of the work of two resident Chinese photographers from Shanghai and films of the residency of Wrong Tao - a contemporary dance professor and choreographer from Chongqing - who I have also met in China.

Wrong Tao produced two new works for the event - one working with community members of all ages and another working with professional dancers.

Etonnant qu'il n'y ait aucun commentaire pour une si belle photo... Le choix du n&b est très judicieux, et fait ressortir les motifs et les caractères. J'aime beaucoup l'ensemble, qui est délicat.

oh, this is a masterpiece in b/w... a lesson for all of us on b/w presentation...
nice, natural frame by the curtains...
interesting how well the painted face works with the patterns on her dress and the letters on the curtains...

Hi Kev,

Haha, some days ago someone showed me a little video of little girls doing a show in a theatre. There wasn't much synchronization going on there, but just the enthusiasm was great!
It's the same combination of a bit of healthy nervousness and enthusiasm that I see in your photograph here. Nice!!
