Photographer’s Note
One of the few on stage shots I took at this outdoor festival - this one from the side steps towards the back - even though I had stage permission - it was so clean to the edges I felt my presence would have been distracting vis a vis the performances and I realised I didn't want to get in a fixed position where i couldn't move during a performance which would stop me getting front of stage.
The title may be a little corny but what you don't get is the sheer weight of gut wrenching soul stirring noise these drummers are making and the enormous energy of it - yet even though she is in mid-beat she looks so relaxed, composed and calm..........
Dulsori from Korea have this to say about themselves.
"Dulsori (literally ‘ heartbeat of the land ’ ), formed in 1984, primarily aims to rekindle the spirit of ancient festival sharing the inner-energy through the art form that can enrich our life. Festival is the place where everyone’s energy mingles together creating a sense of pleasure in a collective manner. Dulsori can never reach this dream alone and that’s why we always invite the audience to join the show.
The fundamental basis of our creative work is a Korean percussion play. Since the beginning of Dulsori, we have tried many different kinds of performances based on the traditional rhythm of Korea. As a result, we have developed unique performances and interactive programs. We believe that creating a sense of community is important in any cultures."

Very good work, Kevin. Tight framing, which is perfect here, and excellent command of light conditions. And a sharp expression too.
cheers,
Cristian

Kev

Hi Kevin,
That's a very nice portrait. She looks a little bit like Poca Hontas :o)) Lovely portrait indeed!

Hi Kev,
I think I've seen more corny titles here on TE, so no need at all to feel like you need to hold back on the title.
Amazing idea that she is drumming here with such passion while her face does not reveal any of that!
What a wonderful candid feel as well you have gotten here. A good choice not to get yourself fixed on the stage, but keep moving around. Nice.
Greetings,
Dennis

I find it amazing that while she drums she remains serene and with a aura of inner peace. the light is masterfully used.
