I usually try to avoid man-made structures in Landscape shots whenever possible, but I believe this pylon actually adds to this shot. I took some others where the pylon plays a lesser role too. It was shot at Attenborough Nature Reserve near to my Brother's house in the UK, during a brief visit while there on business in Dec, 2004. This made it worth while hauling my big 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L lens not just to the UK, but to India the previous week.

Martin, you have some interesting details here. Hydro, lines, water, and nice sun and a duck.... technology.. and a bit of tranquil nature. Nice colours too.

a sunset with a lot of interest. like the pylon a lot as it breaks the extrem interest of the sun. however the duck isin the position to win the detail award. lots to look at in this image. very nice phots.

What makes this image is the duck! Not a fan of sunsets in general but the thumbnail looked interesting enough to follow...
The exposure is good, the composition grabs the attention, and that duck is the icing on the cake. Thanks for taking your long lens along, you'd have regretted it if you didn't.
