Good Morning Everyone,
This is something very different for me and was inspired by my friend who is into photographing 'intimate landscapes'.
I have never seen Nature so beautiful, in such a way!
This could be part of the Grand Canyon or the contours of an immense escarpment; it is, in fact, part of a natural, stone pavement on Old Hartley Beach.
I will add, as a w/s, a section of the beach showing these large stone slabs.
Have a lovely, Sunday, Bev :-)

Yes Nature is a great designer. It is well evidenced on this view with the balanced composition playing with curves and stones colors.

In some way an abstract shot but executed with simply great texture presentation. Superb nature study! Well done.
Have a nice Sunday!

nice piece of observational imagery. Love the swirls and textures here - very dreamy and artistic. Looks like a view from space! Clever stuff!

A fascinating image with its intricate patterns and delightful nuances of tone. Perfectly presented in superb detail. Like it a lot. Enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend, I hope you experience better weather than we do, rainy and on the cool side.

Exactly as your note, from the thumb I could not work out if very very near, or very very far :) very clever photo, and beautiful capture of the intricacies of a simple stone slab. There is beauty everywhere, once we know how to find it!
All the best

Good evening Beverly,
A fabulous contourlines like a Google-map... but this is a rock grained and polished for millions of years by sea and wind.
Superbly spotted on the beach, the WS gave a good idea about. An excelent close up with details.

Interesting image of Nature's creation, appearing like an aerial view of a vast landscape.
I am reminded of a photograph I created many many moons ago in a photography class of a close up of beach sand patterns, which most people thought was an aerial photography image of multiple mountains from on high.
Thanks for sharing,

Excellent idea to photograph those details! The impacting visual result is very interesting, attractive and beautiful! Yes, I agree with you: it could be an image of a landscape seen from sky!
Nice to see where they "come from" in the WS!
TFS - congrats,
Have a great week!

Bev, our world is so beautiful and it offers not only very impressive landscapes and seascapes but also surprises..as if it is bored and it likes to show off sometimes...

This is a fabulously interesting photograph and, as you say, it is not only of an incredibly beautiful pice of rock but it also makes the mind play games: I can imagine this as an aerial view of some wild remote and barren canyon in the midst of a huge continent somewhere.
The light and colours are delightful and your exposure and sharpness are perfect.
I like your workshop picture too. I'm not a geologist but I guess these rocks could indeed be basalt, even although they are not in the crytalline hexagonal shapes as in the Giant's Causeway or Staffa and Fingal's Cave.

La nature a fait un excellent travail pour créer ce beau tableau artistique. Les couches géologiques sont très intéressantes avec une belle diversité de couleurs. Excellente présentation.
Tous mes compliments,

Yes, nature presents itself in a million ways and how beautiful it does here. An excellent example of the interaction between weathering and erosion. Amazing colours. Well seen and equally well captured.
