The viewer can feel the chill in the air. Superior DOF and composition - I like the colors in the sky.

Nice shot with good colours and the pier as a nice leading line which sucks the eye into the depth of the shot. Nicely composed.
What I like less is the quality and sharpness of the shot, I see the filesize is around 70kb, which is I think to much compression. It's allowed to use 200kb, use those to maintain as much details as possible. I think there is some colour noise in the back, and I also would like to see stronger sharpness on the little lighthouse on the end of the pier.
Nice cloudy sky, also like the gulves of the sea which reflect warm colours of the sky.

Hi Ken,
I agree with Emiel about the lack of sharpness in the depth of the image. Looking at the exposure details, it's obvious that this was due to shooting at f1.8. With a linear subject such as this pier, front to back sharpness is important. You should have shot at f8 or f11 to maximise the depth of field. But it was dark and I was handholding, I hear you say. No excuses, use a tripod.
It's a shame, because otherwise this is really good. I like the moody sky and the light on the water, and you used the line of the pier well as a compositional device.
This has real atmosphere, but it's sadly let down by the wrong choice of aperture.
Worth another try, I think.

very good work ken ,nice lines and light off the waves before they slam the side of the pier ,could do with some sharpening but its a great capture
