Photographer’s Note
Coming up the hill from the river Tyne towards the city centre, the road forks in front of an impressive red-brick building. To the right is Dean St. and the city centre, while to the left (ahead of you in the photo), is the "Side", which takes you up to the Cathederal on the right, and where this fair city all began - to the remains of the "New Castle" just visible above the parked cars to the left.
(P.S. Geordies are not noted for their originality when it comes to chosing place names>)
