I work in a Welding and fabrication company, and was asked to take some B&W shots of the men working.
this shot was of one of the workers dressing the excess weld of a job.
i took the shot in this position as i wanted to get some of the sparks going either side of me.

une très bonne photo, un sujet inhabituel sur TE, c'est bien vu et les étincelles créent un spectacle intéressant avec, l'homme dans un léger flou.

I love this one!
You have done exceedingly well here to catch the very bright flying sparks from the grinder and yet still have exposed the background scene so well. I can only presume that you took an exposure then set your camera to manual exposure before taking this one otherwise your camera's auto exposure would have been very confused to say the least! I also presume you had a sturdy filter in front of your lens as I have found that flying sparks like this can cause untold damage to glass.
Perhaps it might have been slightly better had the worker himself been in sharper focus and the spark trails less so but, then, I'm not quite sure. You have managed the huge contrasts remarkably well and have produced a photograph full of interest and certainly one with lots of impact!

hello chris. so this was how it probably looked a few seconds after the big bang. very good capture of the brownian motion. i like a lot your choice of b&w and how you composed the moment.

Very cool shot with the steaks of sparks flying, It is amost too close. Anyway, at first I thought it would have work better in color with the glow of the fire and spark, but as I warm up to it, I like it more in B&W. It allow us to focus more on the subject rather than be distract by the colors. Really good quality great sense of motioin and activities, espeically the large version is very impressive.
