This is the other side of Bamburgh Castle from the one of my previous post. It’s not evident from either image but the castle stands on a rock overlooking the sea. Between the beach and the castle are wide grassy sand dunes from which this image is taken. Although naturally below the castle I got down lower to include the grass in the foreground.

An image from the beach at the other end of the castle is in the WS, but the light is not as good. Just have a look and see how busy a Northumberland beach gets on a warm Saturday. In the other WS is a view showing how the castle dominates the village.

Last post for a week or so, as I'm going to Prague for a few days.

Hi Kath,
excellent castle view, I like it particularly for the grass in foreground but the ws shot are intresting and informative, too. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Kath
Lovely shot of impressive Bamburgh castle.
I like the one you chose as the main picture, it is different to the common way of shooting the castle, usually (my self included) it is taken from the beach or road, where it really looks huge.
I like it, and your WS too.
Harry

PS, have a good trip to Prague

Très belle photo aux couleurs superbes. Très belle lumière et bon POV.

Hi Kath,
A very high quality image of this grand old castle! The lighting, composition and the sharpness are all superb!

Hi Kath,
I love this shot - great low level shot with exceptional foreground leading into the main scene of the castle. The partly clouded sky provides a wonderful canopy for the image. Great work and TFS. Gerald

Hi Kath,
Very nice composition from a good point of view. Technically the picture is superb with beautiful warm colours and lighting. The low angle and the cloudy sky make this shot wonderful. Splendid work!

Regards John

Very good composition with nice colors.

Hello Kath,
very nice and vivid your capture of Bamburgh Castle.I like the placement in the frame with the wild herbs in the foreground and the splendid blue sky as background.Extraordinary the sharpness and the clarity.Have a nice week in Prague.

Lovely capture of the famous castle from a low POV. I like the 2 workshops as well - all great shots, can't decide which I like best. Looking forward to your your images of Prague - enjoy the trip.

hello kath
another sight which gives us another outline of this immense castle, the light is good and the clouds make contrast a framing looked after as usual

Hi Kath,

A clever compo, with the low pov, the clouds and the grass on the fg enhancing the majesty of the castle, which is very well positioned in the image.
The light and colours are beautiful.

It is reasonably sharp, but I suspect that it would be much better if it wasn't for the TE limit. Curiously, my browser says that it has 201.84 Kb!

The WS's are a nice complement to present us the castle. I like the pov of both, although the #1 isn't so punchy. Despite the light, maybe you could had put it better with another PP, namely abusing the saturation. On the #2, I regret that you cropped the persons, as they are a nice add, with their touch of life and colour.

I wish you have a nice time in Prague. And I hope that Autumn comes late there. :-)

Regards, José.

Another fine entry here Kath, great color and super detail. It surely could be a different place than your previous post, good thing your note clears that all up. Nice presentation with the work shops.

Greg

Hi Kath. That is funny that we wouldn’t have the slightest notion that it was next to the sea if not for your note. I like this image because it's not your typically composed castle shot and makes creative use of the foreground through the perfect use of a POV. I love the clouds too. Have a nice weekend!

Hi Kath,
a realy beautiful castle and an interesting POV with the high grasses in the foreground. Beautiful picture.
Regards,, Gerrit

Hi, Kath. The grass in the foreground gives a good depth to the picture and brings out the castle very well. We get a good view on the different parts of the building, which stands out well against the beautiful sky. Good light management.
Have a nice stay in Prague and bring us back a lot of beautiful pictures.

Hi Kath,
The low pov works good for the composition with that long grass in front, creates a nice barrier to the castle.
The castle itself looks a bit soft on the sharpness, or better to say, it lacks a bit of detail. Most of the times a problem when reducing pixels to TE size...not much you can do about that.
Big fat clouds and a nice blue sky to finnish it off...very nice.
Have a nice weekend, Henk

Bonjour, mon amie Kath,
Philippe

castles in britain are always impressive in great settings... the previous one was showing the great setting and the architecture in details... this one is more like a lovely pastoral view and the grass on the foreground makes the difference...

have a great weekend kath

Hi Kath.I like the way you made it with the green grass in foreground.Good contrast with the blue sky.Nice place to visit.

:) be back

PS:the pictures from workshop are great too,the second is really nice, the view from the beach

Olá Kath, I didn't realize this castle was so close to the beach. Fantastic place. Now (and after I saw the WSs) I'm even more impressed with your work on the previous Large Version. This is a gorgeous image with striking colors and you smartly used the grass for a stronger FG and that was creative and very successful.
Ricardo
p.s.- have a good trip to Prague.
p.s.1- in 5 days I'm going away to Thailand and Laos, for 6 weeks, so I guess that I'll see you after I come back - that's why I'm enjoying posting more - because I'll be off TE for a long time...

Hi Kath, except that the object-theme is something wonderful, the point of view you used and the frame give to it a really nice majestic impress.
Contrast-sharpness and light are superb.
Cheers
Evan

Very nice colors with great sky and clouds giving a beautiful surroundings for this majestic castle. despite the light I like the views in the workshops giving lots of context and making us realize how impressive these constructions were.

Hello Kath,
Excellent setting lightly off-centre that catches the whole aesthetic beauty of this castle, and emphasizes it on a splendid sky and good decorated with the clouds.
Your so low POV, almost from the ground, with the grasses in foreground and the castle that appears behind, produces a good effect of depth of image and perspective.
Great work with the lighting and the colors.
I like the photo, and the WS add more graphical local information.
Good trip.
Friendly regards,
Josep

Hi Kath,
Great POV, wonderful scene. Lovely shot and impressive Bamburgh castle front of the clouds. Well done my dear friend...
All the best...

Hello Kath -

I do like the lower POV making the FG grasses larger than they are. This type of distortion seem to over accentuate the subject and can be very effective. With the nice clouds and cloud pattern in the sky this really works. Technicals are spot on the money. All of the images in the WS are very nice travel images but this is by far the best. Well done!

Thank you for sharing.

See ya in about 18 days.

Hola Kath.
Not as spectacular as your previous shot but very well captured with the high grass in the foreground producing a great depth, very good POV, colors and sharpness. In your complementary shot II if you just take two steps backward you was be able to capture the people entirely plus a wider view of the village, but anyway your shots are great.
Well done. TFS.

Hi Kath
Good composition including grass. I like the perspective and this impressive castle on the hill. Nice colours too.

Hello Kath,
What a nice place you bring us here and how intelligent of you to take the heather in the front: It gives a lot of depth to the picture.
I also happen to come back from the UK, and Ireland and tried to take pictures of old castles. The clouds are great too.

Warm regards - Izzet

Hello Kath,
The view to castle is amazing! The low point you choose to take the shot increase the interesting very much with the different foreground.Everything works well, from light to colors with the splendid sky adding much beauty!

Hello Kath,

Hi Cath,
I imagine you as a wanderer in the High and Lowlands, looking for "papagolfades" all around. So you have found an etheral mission for yourself :))
The castle sandwiched between clouds and grass looks lonely indeed. I bet it is a spooky place :))

Kath,
quite a different POV of the same castle that you should in your previous post. At first I couldn't believe that it is the same building. I love your low POV including all the grass in the foreground! It reminds me almost the techniwue of nose-in-the-dirt ... ;-)
I wish you a very good trip to Prague. I have been once there and can't wait to go back there. It is one of the prettiest cities in whole Europe!!!
Regards, Peter

Beautiful autumn colours on this castle! Nice photo with excellent colours.

Hello Kath,

Another gem from the land of castles. You have very depth-of-field here, with the foreground in exhibitinh high resolution, and the castle perched on the hill still well defined. I imagine you are back from Prague and had a good time, bringing back a rich collection of that wonderful city.

Hi Kath
A very good low POV to show the impressive castle. I like the inclusion of the long grass in the FG. Contrasts are excellent against the blue sky. I liked the WS#2 a lot..where you showed the castle in scant light. WS#1 also is good.

Hello Kath,
Once again, a superb shot on this splendid castle. I like the point of view, colors, and the cloudy sky. Excellent realization. Cheer.

Hi Cath
The grass is a good starting point leading the eye up to the castle with the beautiful cloudy sky adding lot of character to the image. Light and colors are great too! In the WS, I especially like the complementary photo II.

Hi Kath,
I really like your framing here!! Looking up over the FG detasil of the grasses to this perfect castle framed against the wonderful sky. The WS are very complementary. I particualrly like the one of the empty beach.

Hope the weather treats you well in Prague; you'll get good photos anyway but it's so much more fun with stunning weather.
HLJ, pat

Hello Kath! Very catchy composition featuring a great POV up towards the dominating castle. The POV also works to accentuate the great sky you had. Despite the small f/stop the castle does seem to lack a little sharpness. Perhaps the shutter was a tad too slow for handholding. But it does not distract and thanks for the additional WS photos.

TFS
Doug

Hello Kath,
A pleasant point of view is well chosen for this fine composition!
It is like the castle is growing out of the ground into the sky, fine details in the ancient architecture and the angle of light adds life...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Kath,
Excellent low POV. The marram gives the idea that this is the observation of the enemy, who is planning an attack of the castle. So there is a great suspense in the scene.
Groet Rob

Very fun image with the grass looking as tall as the castle! Nice use of aperture to get everything in focus for an interesting effect.

Great POV for thıs sturdy castle, thıs photo ıs both classıc and creatıve, wıth pleasant colours,
