[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
First it was raining. Then bright sunshine appeared underneath the black clouds - giving the most glorious illumination of the South Bay's sandy beach. The place was deserted during the day as it was raining. Then suddenly, this guy came on his bicycle and started painting.

The original photo was much bigger and I had to crop quite a bit to isolate the painter working on his painting. He would paint a bit and then walked back to check whether he got the perspective right and then come closer to ad a stroke or two - I caught this particular moment of his examining his undone work.

I also made some contrast adjustments.

This is a good one, Robert! Only two soft colors, his classical pose, the bike on its side and the picture in the picture showing us more of the landscape. If you have more room on the left you can crop a little less there to give him some room in the direction he is looking. And maybe just a sniff more of the contrast.

But this picture really works, both at a first glance and then later with all the little details. Great!

Cliché très original. Le peintre qui avec du recul admire son oeuvre est saisi sur le vif. La composition est très réussie !

A wonderful capture, Robert. The sea makes a splendid background, but what really intrigues me are the wonderful details on the painter and his surroundings, like the brushes stuck into the sand below the tripod, or the bike - haphazardly thrown into the sand, and used as an intermediate storage for another canvas. Another great effect of this kind of shots - as Ebbe already mentioned - is that we can see more on the canvas than on the photo.

For all of the reasons above, this is a great addition into my "artists at work" theme.

It's a pitty that one watching a photo can't see the sky which seems very interesting on the painting. Lights colours which I like. Well done - good job Robi!

Love the picture within the picture. And the pose of the artist. Really great shot. You were defenatly in the right place at the right time.

Nice one, Robert! I love the details in this shot. I bet the painter would like to see it, too.

All the objects on the sand sublines the horizontal composition, the chevalet and the painter contrasting well to it.
The smooth changes of the brown, continued by the same smooth of the blue makes it very calm, harmonyc.
Very well seen, Robert.

Great clarity and I like the "picture-in-picture" look with the painting in focus.

Excellent shot - I love the moment you have captured and the detail, like the little brushes sitting under his easal and his bike - simply brilliant moment, well done for capturing.

very nice work, I like the painting, the bicycle, it all seems misplaced but in a good way, well done
