Photographer’s Note

As it's Christmas Eve today, I had to post this shot of York Minster that I took a couple of weeks ago.
It shows the famous Rose Window, on the Minster's south trancept, and was taken a few minutes before sunset when the warm, low-angled light really brought out the colours and textures of the stonework.
As you can see, my intention was to frame the Minster with the Christmas decorations that were hanging across the narrow alleyway. This was easier said than done, and I had to lie flat on my back to get the composition I was looking for, much to the bemusement of the passing throngs of tourists and shoppers.
So, this is my Christmas present to you all; I hope you like it.
Have a great Christmas everyone.
