An English folk dancing troupe at Whitby on the May weekend holiday. This is known as Morris dancing and this particular Huddersfield based group go by the name of Slubbing Billy's. Morris Dancing is performed by both men and women. Here we can see the women, but men were there too. Some danced and two provided the musical accompaniment on drum & fiddle. Morris dance costume differs from place to place. Some Morris dancers black their faces and wear tatters -clothes seeming to be in ragged shreds. I have included a workshop showing the women in red stockings and clogs . I have also included one showing Mary , who kindly allowed me to take her photo. They look like they are having fun, don't they? For two pins I would have joined in! Pity that I cut off the leading dancer's hands. However I couldn't resist sharing their fun with you. I think you will agree that this is a happy picture.
PS Apologies as the workshop links didn't work yesterday. I have fixed them today.

A great close-up, full of spirit and inferred movement.
Three makes a good compositional number and it's so neat that all the dancers are in line with parallel bodies and arms.
I can imagine the sounds of bells and clogs, though their smiles and enjoyment is very evident.
Have a great w/e,

That's so joyful ! Great capture of these women while dancing. I like the framing, slightly tilted, I think that makes the photo even more dynamic.

Excellent zoomed-in shot, A great close low pov image of this traditional and unusual English custom, you've captured the action superbly, what a joyous image of these highly charged energetic dancing ladies. Indeed it's wonderful to see such joyousness from the simple pleasures of life!! but I really love the warmth, expression, 'sensuousness' and confidence shown by these charming strong mellowed ladies. The costumes are really colourful, a great sense of connection and excellent timing perfectly executed. Thks to your equally adorable extra picture. The word Morris is also a reminder of then a famous and commonly found car in Singapore in the 60s' and in fact I learnt to drive in Morris Minor 1000 way back in 1968. A wonderful foreword supported by a great documentary photographs. My congrats.

A very pleasant picture of happy ladies, in very attractive colours. The complementary pictures are equally good. A very well composed picture with two diagonal lines along their bodies and their arms.

This is a vigorous photo, so full of bright colours, energy and a good mood. Your low POV from straight in front of the women strongly underscores their joy and also provided you with a perfect background. The opposing diagonals of their bodies and arms give a fine rhythm to the composition.
And this photo is not too dark for me :-)

This is a picture that would make anybody smile, such welcoming broad smiles on these faces, they are clearly enjoying the moment. You took a perfect moment to capture it too, arms raised in dance, and those fantastic expressions. Love the colors of the scene too, and the depth from the their positioning. Very cool!
All the best

These three are in perfect choreographic harmony creating some lovely pattern and lines for you! At first glance I thought the lady in the front was John Cannon (Tyro)!
A very joyful shot!
