I totally forgot about this photo.. I can't remember if I had finished it or not.. I'd been doing some tidy up work, please tell me if I haven't.. I'll carry on:-D.
This is another well photographed place. What I saw of this photo was the shadows looked like the sound of my footsteps 'Da,Da...Da...' going down and the "S" leading me to the street...Still sane :-D Thanks for looking.

Good morning Jasmine,
well chosen the POV as the vertical format with the 199 steps to creates so great perspective and depth in the image.
I like the shadows as outlined against the brilliant light of the day as the existence of the people that add life in the scene.
Have a good day,Danos

I like this composition very much. Good point of view and the people on the steps are perfectly placed. Black and white suits the mood; a very good conversion offering a fine range of tones. Did you try the fish and chips when you were in Whitby, they come highly recommended I believe:-)

Hello Jasmine ...an incredibly intriguing composition and image this. Highly original in concept and compelling in it's subject matter. Observational photography at it's best and presented powerfully. Well done!

Hard work to climb all the steps on the winding stairs. Good high POV including the first step and 2 persons at "work"!

Great B&W photo. The view down is clever. The composition is well chosen, with excellent combination of light and shadows and great depth. I like to see the three pedestrians which are adding some life to this excellent photo. Bravo. Have a nice week.

This is an excellent composition, well suited for a B&W rendering. I can truthfully say that this picture has a good depth :-). There are also several fine curves and diagonals that make it so attractive.
Very well done.

Great idea and photo job!

Hello Jasmine. My compliments for this masterful black and white photo. Structures, light, shadows, and so complement each other perfectly. The photograph has artistic quality and reminds me of the great old Master.

a perfect angle that has created a nice view.

The clarity and the contrast is as usual facinating.. But what is really interesting to me are the sharp shadows along the curve. The curve itself is a wonderful composition, with the steps smoothly merging with the cobbled sloping path taking another turn at te top of the photograph. The man walking down the slope is great. The sharp straight lines of the buildings on either side also add to the contrast with the rhythmic curves that dominates this photograph.
True there is so much rhythm in the composition.
Thanks for sharing, Jasmine.

This is a very well composed photograph - and I can fully understand how difficult it must have been to compose too with such a difficult subect - looking downwards down those steep steps into the distance below, with some very strong lines and strong perspective and with very strong contrasts between the brightly lit areas and the deep shadows.
You have also coped very well with the exposure as there is lots of detail preserved in both the brightest parts and in the deepest shadows too. And I think black and white works very well here as well.

I know exactly where you stood when you took this as I took a similar shot in July but there were too many people in my picture. Your composition is super with the strong shadows adding to the pattern of the steps. I like the two people about to make the climb. Gorgeous light - you handled the conditions very well.
Kind Regards, Ann

Image brilliantly composed and at a time of day ideal to see this play of shadows.
The presence of this couple who climbs the stairs is valuable, exposure is perfect.

The shadows in the foreground really gives this composition a creative edge. The choice of black and white was a wise one as it helped to concentrate on shapes and their interaction. Ilike the light character in the dark part of the image and vice versa.
