Photographer’s Note
Rievaulx Terrace and Temples
A View Cut Through
Time to conclude my series on Rievaulx Terrace and Temples.
Like I said in my note for the first photo in the series, the terrace is a half-mile long grass terrace with two eighteenth century temples, one at each end. The unique aspect of this property are the views cut through the woodland on Terrace Bank down to Rievaulx Abbey and the upper Rye valley.
This is one of them.
Hope to see you there...

Hi Rob,
Very nice composition, very well ballanced. I like the point of view and the high angle. Splendid work!

Thubnail view was quite puzzeling. Point of view from the photographer's well choosen. This is a different bird's eye view of the Rievaulx Terrace and Temples very much appreciated.

Hi Robi,
An interesting series you have run and this is one of the better shots therein. I like the framing here and the angled positioning of the structure. The trees enhance, as do the smaller buildings in the distance. A good object lesson to new photographers on how to make a shot appealing without showing the sky. Well captured. Happy New Year.

Nice overview of this ruin, showing how it fits into the surroundings. I like how you can see the building through the trees, like a hidden gem being discovered. Well done!

Hi Robi,
I like the angle you have taken this shot from. It's not often you get a photo looking down on ruins. Great composition and detail as always.

Hi Robi. A unique distant view of the old structure, well framed with the diagonal placement of the main subject which is also delightfully naturally framed by the foreground greenery. Good contrasts and nice DOF all the way to the houses in the back.
