Today's posting is a further view of the Rochdale Canal. On this section you can see some of the narrow boats. There are temporary berths here so that the occupants can have time to go and enjoy the historical views of this lovely and enormously interesting town of Hebden Bridge.
I believe the tall building on the right is a mill. Because Hebden Bridge was built in a narrow valley, all the buildings have many stories to take full advantage of the limited floor space.
There is more information about Hebden Bridge here which you might find interesting.
Many thanks for stopping by.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph.
Please look at my previous posting for information about the boats.

You show us a really beautiful scenery here - and an interesting one! There's a lot of calm in this picture - and a wonderful light. This must be a special place indeed ...
Greetings from very cool Germany!

This is a great shot. I like the gently blurred reflection and the soft colours as they create a calm, peaceful mood. I also like the plants that seem to frame the shot as it helps draw the eye towards the centre of the shot.
One small thought. Perhaps a crop at the top of the shot to remove the house in the distance. However, this is just idea and I do have a habbit of over-cropping.
Kind regards and well done on this great capture,

This is a place which is on my list to re-visit this Summer. There is a bus route over the moors from Keighley which I always enjoy. Your photo has captured some of the town's main characteristics - the canal, the steep hillsides and the tall buildings - all in one very pleasing frame. The sunlight is warming the colour of the stone walls and the shimmering water is adding just enough movement to the reflections. A lovely peaceful scene - even at the centre of this busy place. Hebden Bridge has certainly become a desirable place to live hasn't it? I believe house prices there are high nowadays.
You have got to the heart of the place I think!

I like this shot fot its tight composition and natural green frame. The way boats turn with the river is fine, it makes eyes naturally follow it. What I would like to see are a bit brighter colors. I tried to do a little WS, in which the first plan is brighter and reflexions have brighter colors.

Bev, you got me, this is a great shot, one that I wouls call typical England. It is a lovely composition; the building on the river has a story of it's own I bet. Great capture.

This is a nicely composed shot with the eye being led through the shot by the canal. The reflection provides nice depth and balance to the shot. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF. The scene is framed nicely with the trees on both sides helping to focus attention on the canal.

Another one of your fine canal shots. The foliage on either side, and above, frames the large building neatly. The waterway and its line of moored boats curving around to the left, promises us more of interest around the corner.
Attractive reflections in the ruffled water.
Our local canal, the Kennet and Avon, has seen a huge increase of leisure activity since its restoration some years ago.
I hope you won't mind if I make two small suggestions: I feel I would like to rotate the image a smidgeon CCW, to make the near corner of the mill plumb vertical, and I think I would clone out that little window at the top right corner - I think it slightly tends to draw the eye away from the main interest.
Thanks for your kind appreciation of my Cuckmere Haven picture.

Beverley, This is a postcard of a shot. It's a lovely comp almost vignetted by the trees and the reflection in the water softens the hard rectangles of the building from where they eminate. Although the lighting is a little harsh, you have placed the viewer under the shade of the trees to admire the scene. It's very busy with good depth. Thanks for your words of encouragment and appreciation. Regards, TW

Very beatiful view. Those trees on the sides make it look comfortable, like a private alley. I like soft reflection on the water.

If not for the car park roofs this landscape looks as it must of appeared 150 years ago.
The old mill makes a very sharp reflection in the placid canal along with the lovely old boats. Fantastic sharpness and ture colors to this time machine image.

Old facade of multi story building is creates splendid view while water canal adding very good depth. Repeating windows on facade, old chimneys are wonderful with boats and reflections on canal. Excellent lights and capture in green. Congratulations.

Very lovely composed view of this waterway and such a fine architecture feature.

Wonderful view of the canal. Superb light reflecting from the walls of the mill on the right, and nice perspective view of the bend in the canal. The trees each side make a nice frame. The shimmering water is well captured. My only suggestion would be to correct a slight tilt to the right. But it's a lovely capture of the light, which I think must have been square-on, slightly in front of the camera. Well done.

It really couldn't be anywhere but Yorkshire could it. This is a nostalgic shot for me since I spent my college years (a long time ago) in this part of the world. A beautiful composition and great reflections.
Greetings from drippingly hot Greece
