Good Morning Everyone,
I am continuing with my theme of canals but this is no longer the Leeds to Liverpool Canal. Here, I have gone over the border into North Yorkshire and this is a view of part of the Rochdale Canal at Hebden Bridge.
This canal has a similar use to the previous one. It has a large number of narrowboats, many for leisure, some for permanent occupation. Three of these boats can be seen beyond the stone bridge.
We talked with one of the boat owners about his life and love of the water. He had had a boat as a home for many years because he loved the life style. He shared the boat with his dog and it looked a cosy, welcoming place. However, he stated that many recent owners had purchased a boat not because they wanted to live on the water but because they were unable to afford a proper house.
With the recent fall in house prices I have a feeling that there may be a turnabout and boat prices may begin to climb!!!
Many thanks for your visit.
I hope you found it interesting
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph.

The image is interesting and the composition is very good. The colours of the image seem very natural, giving the scene more life. The canal entrance offer a nice view and framing of the boats. Nice perspective and note regarding this place. Thanks.

I like the composition you made. You chose also the right exposition balancing the light coming from beyond the bridge and the darkness of the zone under the bridge.

Once again, you did a good use of that bridge.
The way you've used the arch to make a frame is a really good idea.
The "S" of the path leads the eyes to the barge, it's well composed.
Great light, perfectly managed. Congrats !

A lovely peaceful shot with great details and lovely colours.
I often find I can tell a Nikon picture from others because of the faithfulness of the colours - the greens and browns especially. It reminds me of the days of shooting positive slide film: Kodachrome always gave more vibrant colours but Agfa CT18 gave much more faithful colours in flesh tones and country scenes. Memories.
Lovely reflections on the canal too. Just a wee pity about that modern bit of moveable fencing on the left - difficult to clone out because it's sprouting out of the bushes there!
An interesting and informative note too.

Very nice composition. The path going under the bridge invites us to walk a few minutes on the shores of this nice canal. I love the reflections of the bridge and the boats in the water.

Another beautiful peaceful scene in this most engaging series on the canals of the North Country. Excellent POV gathers striking reflections on both sides of the lovely arch.
The colors very well balanced with sharp details to this little bit of heaven.

other beautiful canal photo,
as to the usual one soft colours and a beautiful light.

This is excellent!
The mostly shaded FG side of the composition, with its interplay of light and shadow on the stonework of the bridge, contrasts wonderfully with the sunlit canal beyond the arch.
The towpath leads our eye neatly under the bridge from the right hand bottom corner, and the reflections in the water are lovely.
Your usual soft restrained colours too.
The understated drop shadow frame works well here.

the other side? not so nice as "just look back"...
at first because of the metal barrier, and a romantical face smaller...
but a cool place in fact....

It's been fun spending time in your gallery today. So many beautiful pictures!!! I really love the lighting and shadows in this, and of course the scene is lovely! I really like this old bridge and the reflections are so pretty. Excellent colors and detail. TFS and have a great day!

Good evening Beverly,
Fine shot with a perfect mirror effect under the bridge.
The boats also placed in a superb position. Grand light and colors contrast with smooth water-surface.
