I am back home from my trip to British Isles. It was quite unusual trip but I enjoyed it very much. Before going to Middlesbrough to meet Mariusz, I visited Castle Howard. It lies near York and when I was there a few years ago I had not enough time to visit it. Mariusz dedicated me this photo. Now it is my turn :).
I would like to thank Mariusz and his wife Anna for a great hospitality and warm welcome. I felt in Middlesbrough like with a family and I had a happy time there.
I visited Castle Howard inside. Now with Christmas decorations in every room and nice music it is marvelous.
Castle Howard is a stately home in North Yorkshire, England, 15 miles (24 km) north of York. One of the grandest private residences in Britain, most of it was built between 1699 and 1712 for the 3rd Earl of Carlisle, to a design by Sir John Vanbrugh. Although Castle Howard was built near the site of the ruined Henderskelfe Castle, it is not a true castle, but this term is often used for English country houses constructed after the castle-building era (c.1500) and not intended for a military function.
Castle Howard has been the home of part of the Howard family for more than 300 years. It is familiar to television and film audiences as the fictional "Brideshead", both in Granada Television's 1981 adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's Brideshead Revisited and a two-hour 2008 remake for cinema. Today, it is part of the Treasure Houses of England heritage group.
The house is surrounded by a large estate which, at the time of the 7th Earl of Carlisle, covered over 13,000 acres (5,300 ha) and included the villages of Welburn, Bulmer, Slingsby, Terrington and Coneysthorpe. The estate was served by its own railway station, Castle Howard, from 1845 to the 1950s.

Ciao e buona giornata

What a beautiful and inviting scene this is! The whole image looks like some kind of wonderful welcoming painting, and it would not surprise me to find the Ghost of Christmas present sitting right here! Rich festive colors of gold and red make this very appealong to me, and the composition of the flowers on the thirds like this is perfect.
Thank you for sharing, and happy Christmas!!
All the best

O.K., you're home...but for how long?? :) Glad you had a wonderful trip, traveled safely, and was able to meet with Mariusz.
This is quite an impressive image taken indoors and under generally difficult lighting conditions. The overall balance of light is superb, and the colors rendered are...well, golden! Rather elegant to say the least, beauty abounds from corner to corner with detail and precision.
It has a very warm and inviting feeling, which is often not realized from a "production" showing. Thanks for giving us this look into the castle. 'Tis the season!

Good tribute to Mariusz! Very nice atmosphere of the past, fine details, marvelous colors.
I see your Map of Photographed Countries, and I can say you have got not so much white spots there ;)) I think you can do it without brown marker )))

What a rich and sumptuous interior Malgo, not a style I could live with on a day-to-day basis but quite breathtaking to see. Impressive light management here and what a wonderful array of details. Warm regards Rosemary

How appropriate that Mariusz showed us the outside of this wonderful castle before - and now you show us the sumptuous inside of the building!
I know just how difficult it can be to photograph places like this, especially when the light is fairly poor and when the use of flash or tripods is usually forbidden. But you have done exceedingly well here, letting us see this wonderful room with all its glorious rich colours and all the details of paintings and décor.
A fascinating note too!
