THere is so much of beauty and history in the architecture of Liverpool and it is good to see a photo that conecntrates on a little seen corner of the famous docks. There is much of interest in this photo and the textures and shapes are emphasised by the black and white format. The masonry employed at that time in the construction of the docks and dock buildings is wonderful....so carefully constructed and yet random at the same time....mighty strength and yet a delicate tracery of joints. And the ordered masonry is contrasted with the anarchy of the stones below. The same masonry style can also be seen in The Swan.
