Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
Crosby Beach, near Liverpool, is a vast expanse of sand; great for families to play and a place for exercise but it has other things to offer: the Anthony Gormley statues, situated around the beach, wind turbines out to sea, boats heading into Liverpool harbour and a fine leisure centre.
On the day we were there, the sky was appearing so big that I had to make it the star of my photograph. Yes, I know the couple are walking out of the shot but they were walking at speed, they were superbly placed for composition and I just didn't have time to readjust! On this occasion, I ask for your indulgenece!
The small figures you can see dotted around the beach are, in fact the Anthony Gormley statues. I will present a more detailed shot in my next post.
Thank you for stopping by. Have a good Sunday, Bev :-)

Good Morning Bev,
This is an almost minimalistic scene with the majestic sky in the main role. Your perspective and composition are very effective to show what you intended. Contrasting colors of the earth and sky looks amazing. And the dad and son give life to the shot as well as the opportunity to determine how tiny we are in a big big world. Thanks for sharing. Have a nice Sunday,

Hello Beverley,
The effect of the clouds over the beach is really splendid.
I like a lot this simple but effective image, the light and the colors are magnificent.
The human presence is the perfect add to a splendid photo.

Hello Beverley
A superb minimalist shot & a marvellous 'big sky' image as well. The warm cold color contrast between the reddish yellow sand & blue sky is quite pronounced. The people at right add scale & context. Good tonal range in the cloud & superb sharpness. Have a nice Sunday!

Good Morning Bev - Your expansive beach scene with fabulous clouds, which seem to stretch on for ever, looks like the ideal playground on a summer's day. I can imagine fathers and children flying kites. I like your positioning of father and son in this shot, they make a perfect punctuation mark in the simple composition and the light on them adds a super little contrast. I would love to see the Gormley sculptures and I look forward to seeing your next upload. Have a peaceful Sunday Rosemary

Hello Beverly,
You managed a lot in a simple image: divided into three dominating layeres, blue brown and grey/white on clouds hang aloft.
The father and son (I assume they are), gave good scale here.
Lovely shot on mid-summer's.

Hi Beverley
a shot tha reminds me of childhood holidays, nothing fancy just a beach, the sea and the sky. Composed effectively with a beauty and simplicity that is both attractive and compelling.
Enjoy your Sunday - Brian.

Bonjour Beverly
J'aime beaucoup la position des personnages dans l'image. Il semblent tourner le dos à un très beau spectacle, peut-être pour en découvrir un autre.

Hi Beverley.
A simple but very beautiful composition, with this broad picture of the huge beach, which not even let us see the sea in the distance. The composition has a large DOF with the horizon line there in the distance.
Espectuacular sky contrasting with the warm beauty of golden sand, the child and the man, gives us ample proportions of this great beach.
Have a happy Sunday.

Hi Bev
as i loook at this, it seems as if the large white clouds above are pushing the 2 people away :)
its a funny look :)
but man....what a difference those clouds make! imagine this photo without them, it changes drastically.
they add power, yet also grace.
a lovely visual
cheers

Hi Bev,
A delightful beach scene. Lov the colours and the relative positions of the protagonists (cloud and people). The position in the frame of the people indeed is fab. And I'm not opposed to closed storytelling, so you get full marks here!
Re: the type of composition I used here is called 'fully filled', one of its aims is to connect the content of the frame directly to its context, hence the cut arm & head.
Have a wonderful Sunday evening!

Hello Beverley,
A great and different kind of beach photo, where the water is so far off we can hardly see it. The light is wonderful and you were lucky to run across some magnificently shaped clouds. Od course the composition wouldn't have ben the same without the man and his child. To me it makes no difference which way they are walking, as long as they are there.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Bev
You know I think I saw this beach recently on Eastenders? Just before Pat died. Those wind turbines out to sea ring a bell. I like your wide angle shot here. The people are an essential element and are well-positiond off-centre. Excellent strong colours and a wonderful sense of scale.
Thanks for sharing, enjoy your evening

Olá Beverley,
A stunning stretch of beach, you were lucky with the beautiful clouds fill the sky. It will be interesting to see these statues, the sandy beach.
In this beach you can take a bath?
Have a nice week,

Hi Bev,
Very nice shot. The sky with the cloud formation really made the point on this picture. Good compostion also, on giving more space to the sky and including the families playing on the beach.
Very nice one.

Hello Bev
This beach is high on my list of places to visit, but everytime I'm in Liverpool (once or twice a year), I seem to get stuck in some pub or other.
This picture is another reminder to kick myself out and finally make it up to the Gromley statues next time. The many pictures I've seen of this place are very, very impressive.
What this picture adds, is that it gives a good sense of the location (rather than of the statues themselves) and a wonderfully nostalgic beach holiday ambience.

Hello Bev,
This is a beautiful minimalistic picture the likes of which appear to be very popular these days. It also is a fine example of the effective juxtaposition of two complementary colours, namely yellow and blue.
The tiny Gormley figures in the distance and the man and child walking across this great expanse of beach beneath a glorious sky (enhanced by your use of a polarising filter) make for a fine composition.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Bonjour Beverley,
Amicalement.
Daniel.

You were right on to make the sky the star. That is what drew me to this photo. Wonderfully composed. Those are amazing clouds. I like how you minized the lower portion. Top notch work!
Take care,
Tosca
