Good Morning Everyone,
This is Salford Quay, a place to which I love to return, for it has wonderful features to photograph which change with the light and the season.
The weather was dull when I was there to take this shot but it still produced a 'mood'.
My photograph is an upwards view of the lift bridge or Salford Quays Millennium footbridge. It was designed by Carlos Fernandez Casado, is 91.2-metre long and spans the Manchester Ship Canal in Salford, Greater Manchester, England. The bridge, which was completed in 2000, is near the terminus of the ship canal at the old Manchester Docks. It links Salford Quays to Media City UK and has a lift of 18 metres, allowing large watercraft to pass beneath.
If you should ever watch 'BBC North West Tonight' television news programme, you will be able to see a different angle on this bridge, for it is the backdrop for the programme.
I hope you have a lovely day and thanks for your interest, Bev :-)

I have never thought taking this bridge as you have done it! A good symetric architecture under a soft light.

So well seen! I admire your creative approach to the subject. The symmetry really enhances the graphic qualities of the image.

you have made good use of the overcast conditions to reveal all the details of the bridge in a thoughtfully composed and perfectly presented shot.
The overall symmetry is very appealing in the well chosen upright format.
Best regards Les.

bellissimo taglio verticale per sfruttare al meglio questa architettura.
Inquadratura millimetrica perfetta, il cielo è grigio, ma si intona bene al soggetto.

You have known how to choose exactly the right point of view to create a most successful graphical composition. Precisely framed with excellent symmetry. The coppery reflections in the distant windows make a superb focal point. Fine photography, bravo!

Great framing and pov with a well considered vertical format. The symmentry of the clean, geometric lines, arcs and shapes combine to make a very pleasing composition. The overcast sky in the background provides great atmosphere.
Thanks for sharing and have a nice day.

even without looking at the title or the photographers name, i KNEW this was your photo :)
well, this certainly is the type of scene that i'd usually post so naturally i'm going to be attracted to it.
your photo has symmetry, height, impact, strong visual lines and because of all of that its very easy on the eyes. All the lines and height give us a natural path to follow visually.
works quite well.
enjoy your day

I really like such unusual POVs to look at modern architecture. Perfect symmetry for this wonderful bridge. The cloudy sky forms a great background. Thanks for sharing!

this part of Manchester looks such a great place to get some modern architectural shots. Despite the weather this is a great image full of symmetry and wonderful lines. I am surprised at the amount of building that has taken place in the major cities of the UK and some of it, like this, are well thought out and really aesthetically pleasing. Excellent work!
Regards - B.

I've tried hard to find anything that breaks the perfect symmetry, and I've found... ...virtually nothing:-). This is the kind of photo where the object almost loses its functional character and becomes just a composition of shapes, lines and colours. The dark clouds are definitely no drawback here.

Quel beau cadrage vertical. Il faut dire que le sujet se prête bien à ce genre de prise. L'ensemble est d'une grande symétrie et aussi d'une grande légèreté.Le ciel très gris ajoute une belle ambiance.

I enjoy the very artistic POV under the string-bridge, Beverly, a close range sight with sharp details especially on it's strings-cables.
Two white cranes/lifts on sides are a fine applied elements. Splendid archi.-style collected well.

A strong image here from Salford Quay. Excellent symmetry and the rather dull weather adds some atmosphere especially with copper coloured windows against the grey.
Very well done.
Kind Regards, Ann

For a moment, I thought you had travelled into space :) this really looks like one of those cities on the moon that old tv shows promised we would live in by now. I guess they were right about the design, just not the location. An excellent central comsition that shows off all elements to perfection. Very nicely done image, and the frame suits perfectly.

A superb symmetrical composition Bev. The overcast sky doesn't let the image down, in fact, I think the soft grey makes a fine harmonious backcloth to the bridge. Your chosen POV highlights the stays(?) of the structure which contribute to the graphic look of the shot. The bronze/apricot coloured glass fronted buildings tone in with the sky really nicely.

you have a really great eye to spot something like this. Excellent composition, very well used design of the bridge here.
As mentioned elsewhere I did not plan many trips this year but one of them was a weekend near Manchester. There was a show for my daughter over there and we also went to one of the best ZOOs in the world (Chester), plus Liverpool as you have already seen. I tell you the story because as well I had a chance for a quick walk along Salford Quays. The weather was quite challenging but I definitely have to show something from that walk. I remember of course well this bridge, it is quite extraordinary. I like the perfect symmetry here. I would love to come back there at the blue hour as well, may be someday.
Thanks for showing this original perspective,

A superb upward pov with a nice minimalist composition and a semi abstract framing. Good sharpness and nice repetition of the inverted v shaped support wires. The 2 lighter toned structures left and right add good symmetry. The minimalist colour works well too. Good shadow detail in the underbelly. Tfs!
