Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
Today, it is bitterly cold, the sky is dull, with low grey clouds but there is, as yet, no snow to liven up the scene.
As a result, I have trawled my archives for today's shot and have decided to post this view of the bridge at Salford Quays, Manchester.
The view is taken from the Lowry side of the Quay, looking through a support. I found it very interesting for it really gave attention to the lifting mechanism at the very top of the bridge support.
The red building, in the b/g, lower left, is Old Trafford, Manchester United's football ground.
Have a lovely Sunday, Bev :-)

Interesting structures mingle into a nice pic. taken from the POV mentioned, Beverly.
most known is the "old-Trafford" - looks new rather...
Beautiful view with and through the black net.
Stay indoor's, waiting for a better weather,

Hi Bev
a well chosen POV that gives the image intrigue and impact. I love the translucency of the bridge and the diagonal lines bursting from the right lower corner, plus the curves are delicious. Wonderfully original and executed perfectly. Like it a lot!
Regards - Brian.

Hello Bev,
An interesting graphical composition featuring this modernistic architecture. Cleverly framed and making excellent use of the light and shadow contrasts on offer. The sky whilst grey remains interesting and makes a good backdrop for the bridge.
Here in this part of France, we have not had the rain and wet weather that you seemed to have suffered in the UK. On the whole, the summer (July through September) was warm and sunny. Of late, the weather has turned much colder but there have been no major snowfalls locally (touch wood). Further to the East, in the Dordogne for instance, they have not been so lucky.

Hello beverley
I like your approach to shoot through the bridge architecture. I have been there and never thought that the football ground was so close.
I try a B&W version, as you don't have many colors.
Spend a good sunday

Bonjour Beverly,
Du très bon travail de composition. Tu as su trouver un angle original et bien contrôlé la profondeur de champs. Le ciel très gris apporte une petite touche dramatique à l'ensemble.

Hi Bev
hmmm...this one caught my attention right away for obvious reasons! very smart composition having the tower appear through the opening.
the only thing I may change would be to increase the contrast levels for a wider division between the blacks/greys and whites.
but for sure its a beauty! I wouldn't have expected this subject from you :) I'm pleasantly surprised to see such an attractive architectural shot!!
cheers

Hello Bev! Smart choice of a vertical frame to accentuate the POV and bridge with view in BG ! Good graphism against the idea with splendid sharpness

Hello Bev
interesting shot - light and shade, line and shape, abstract aspect to it too. I like the POV and the way you have framed the structure in the BG in the "window" of shape creating an emphasis upon as the main point of visual attention.

Hi Bev,
I have been to Manchester last Thursday. Morning was great but I had to do something and as soon as I got some free time -it started to rain. It was my third time in Manchester and again same story. And this time I hoped to go to Salford Quays which I did not see yet but because of the rain I did not. So I can at least admire the place in your photo.
Very original composition with a pleasant geometry. Well spotted. It seems like a very photogenic place with plenty of photo opportunities. I have to visit it some time in the future,
M
