London: Big Ben

I am so sorry, but I just can't resist to post this classical view of the Big Ben as my first photo from London.
Of course Big Ben is actually a nickname, firstly for the great bell of the clock, but secondly also for the Clock Tower itself. It is part of the Palace of Westminster or Houses of Parliament, located on the north bank of the River Thames in the London borough of the City of Westminster.
The tower is designed by Augustus Pugin in Gothic Rivival style and is 315.9ft/96.3m high and celebrates its 150th birthday this year.

Zo, nu ook een foto van Londen erbij. Mooi scherp en die toren van de BB steekt mooi af tegen de blauwe lucht. Interessante note, nu weet ik eindelijk de geschiedenis van de BB ook. ;-)

Hej Lars, a delightful capture of the Big Ben and the Palace. The very well rendered architecture works well with the cheery colours of London's daily life. A remearkable detail is the informal use as camoping of the green in front. Oh ik weet eigenlijk niet waarom ik dit nu in het Engels schreef ;-) Een hele fijne plaat!

Hello Lars:

This site so traditional, it had never had a chance to see her so closely. And I did not know he had a green power for its wonderful architectural detail in a more relaxed way.

There is balance in the linear forms, good management of light, and although I see a bit of noise, the tones are warm and soft.

Hi Lars,

A classical view, but have done the only thing you could do in such situation take a better picture than most. The composition and the vertical format is perfect. I really enjoy the inclusion of the man on th lawn and the tall lamp-post on the left. Very attractive lighting and colours. TFS and have a nice Sunday!

Hey Lars,

A classic, you know, but some classics just dont get old. :) The pp is as usually impeccable, colors, sharpness, everything. The lawn infront looks like it`s also a good place to relax and maybe catch a lunch break. A fine picture.

Don't say sorry, Lars. This is actually a splendid capture of the famous icon in London. Very textured facade with all details looking out for verticality. The sky is enhancing and I like the inclusion of the person sat in FG and the typical taxi passing by in the street.

Mooie klassieke foto van een van de meest bekende torens van de wereld. Om het helemaal in stijl te maken had je er eigenlijk een link naar het geluid van deze veel bezongen plaats bij moeten zetten.

Vele zullen u reeds voorgeweest zijn om de Big Ben te fotograferen, maar steeds blijf ik er met gespreide ogen naar kijken.
Het blijft een imposante toren, de tweede wereldoorlog heeft England geslagen maar niet verslagen hier nogmaals het perfecfte voorbeeld, mooi foto werk mijn vriend. Bedankt.

Hallo, Lars. Big Ben is een klassieker, maar Big Ben met een mooie blauwe lucht als achtergrond is niet zo gewoon. De mensen op de voorgrond geven een goed idee van de schaal. Goede kleuren en contrasten. Weet je waarom er tenten waren op het grasperk?

You certainly live in the right continent, since you like architectural photography, there is not place better than Europe. With all the classic and historical buildings, as well as the modern structures.

This is a very nice one, showing not just the structure itself as well as surrounding with people going on their daily life and the man relaxing on the glassy field is a nice addition to the composition and depth. The cloud above Tower, make it looks like Big Ben has been smoking. I was here last April, no blue sky :(.

This is a classic view of the Clock Tower, but with a modern setting, created by the camping tents and the man who read sitting on the grass. Beautiful colors, excellent light and great sharpness.

Even if the topic is a great classic of London, you have managed a very good picture here, in terms of sharpness, colors and general environement. There is even a black cab passing on the street so you have managed a beautifull postcard of London!
