Paddington Station, London Photo

Photographer’s Note

I had just arrived at Paddington Station, having taken the Express Train from Heathrow. This was my first trip back to the U.K. since I was a toddler travelling with my parents.
I had come to London for business, but this was Saturday morning, and I had the whole weekend to discover London.

Excellent picture Dan. Fine sharp foreground. Good light. Diagonal pespective of a roof clear enough to tell the structure forms excellent background. Well done

A very good shot of this station, Dan. It is amazing that even that you used a shallow dof, the details of the construction are still well seen. A very good point of view and shooting angle. Very good shot.

Hi dan, i really like the post treatment you chose here. Before reading your note i had that feeling that you had softly blurred the bg, and it looks kind of dreamy now.. i like it... Apat from the pp, i think you have a nice compo also and great tones of colors;-)

Very strong composition POV and good colors and the PP gives more depht to the composition using this kind of glow too but a little bit less drastic. Ever thought of an inverse trace contour select glow, leaving edges sharp ? Fine work, I like this very much for your personal approach.

Very charming clock! Good idea to blur the background as it emphasis the interest in the clock. This is a good example that you don’t need to be in an exotic location to have a special picture. Well done!

A very well-crafted architectural shot, Dan. Good framing with the fine old clock in the upper left of the frame, and an exercise in perspective with all the lines leading towards the back, and topped by the arches. The exposure was well handled, and your post-work came out good without the result looking artificial or overdone for my taste. Nice job.

Nice one Daniel. I guess the clock must have been broken, cos its not often you're active at that time!

A good decision to apply a blur to the background. Whereas that would be fundamentally of interest to the pre-War architecture spotter, from a composition standpoint, you needed to guide that eye to that clock, wether right or (in this occasion), clearly wrong!

Excellent picture of station where the clock is a ;-) with the british punctuality. Very strong cropping with sharpness on clock and the station's environment suggested in the blur. The light is soft and the details quite visible. Nice colors, too.

You create an excellent composition here! The station creates a great perspective and your principal subject, the clock, is well framed and positioned in your picture. The depth of field is well used to bluy just a little bit the station accentuating the presence of the clock.

It s amazing how is possible to take a picture of just usual station and usual clok and the result is this great photo.
